Assault rifles fire bursts and full auto. A bushmaster only fires one bullet per trigger pull. Not an assault rifle.

Re: DO YOU CONSIDER THE BUSHMASTER .223 AN ASSAULT WEAPON?
Assault rifles are full auto. They were designed to give infantry assaulting a position the ability to go to full auto for extra firepower at that critical moment when they were closing on the enemy fortifications and so their own artillery had to cease for risk of hitting them.

The irony here is that up close a shotgun is way more destructive, and a bolt action hunting rifle typically has longer range accuracy with a potent round. The semi-automatic "assault" rifle has a multi-shot magazine is all. It's just marketing hype and spin to call it an "assault" or "AK-47 style", etc. Smoke & mirrors . . .
