How exactly is this 3 days of darkness supposed to work?

The scenario that has made the most sense to me (described by a astrophysicist) is that when the superwave hits from the galactic center will blow in extra dust and heat up the dust in our solar system. This will make the dust visible in space blocking out the stars/moon and the sun sort of. (not entirely sure)

Depending on how big the superwave is (think of it like a solar hurricane) will determine how dusty our solar system gets. If it is really bad the dust will circle our sun and it will look like a red giant and become very violent; doing more harm than the superwave itself.

This is how I see the world being in complete darkness at the same time.

I'm guessing the sun will be blocked out via crap in the atmosphere.

If this actually happens, half the earth will have 3 days of light. I'm not sure how much chaos there'd be if the earth reverses its rotation in 3 days. Can anyone calculate the speeds on that? What are the G forces of that speed reduction? And is it enough to slosh oceans or topple mountains?

We shall see.
