Eagle tried to snatch a kid (video)

Lucky kid. Looked like the eagle was going for the hat, then the whole kid started going up in the air like being lifted off like he was attached to a helicopter.

Just a friendly reminder from mother nature that despite the fact that we may be have tried to remove ourselves from nature, we are still very much a part of it...

Growing up I heard stories from the old-timers of this happening but without the happy ending.

I always thought the stories were fables.
Now I believe them!

Yikes! I have read stories where big birds have carried off small children or infants. Not necessarily eagles, but vultures, etc. Really scary.

I looked out my patio door yesterday and saw two (not eagles) feeding on something in my yard. These guys were huge! And I live in a suburb...a housing area.

I would have taken a photo, but my movement at the patio door frightened them away. From what I could see, they had to be over 30 inches high. The wing span was much like the bird in the video.

Just googled images of vultures, and I would say they were turkey vultures. "A large bird, it has a wingspan of 160–183 cm (63–72 in), a length of 62–81 cm (24–32 in), and weight of 0.8 to 2.3 kg (1.8 to 5.1 lb)."
