United Kingdom 12/19/2012 12:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | naming part of Antarctica after the Queen Queen Elizabeth Land, as it will now be known, is a 169,000 square mile slice of the British Antarctic Territory, touching the South Pole and reaching out to an area twice the size of the UK. It will be marked on all British maps in future, but is unlikely to make it onto Argentinian maps of the area, as the country disputes Britain’s claim on the polar continent and has its own counter-claim which overlaps the newly-renamed land.
