Question is...

Why did they keep them under wraps? Access to them was severly restricted.

How much has been deleted or altered? I don't trust 'em

Re: After 6 decades: THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS are available to see online.
This IS a conspiracy site so I don't have any qualms about sharing with you what I read many years ago, back when they were discovered and have never been able to find again--as if they were deliberately taken from the net, because they were EARTHSHAKING discoveries that I was amazed to find and filled me with absolute wonder. I recall that the pieces being translated were NOT about the Scriptures, per se; they were about the community of believers and what they were all about. This is the gist of what I came to understand by the woman (I can't recall her name), who translated that particular part of the find.

The community had obviously had some experience with being in the ACTUAL temple in Jerusalem and gave a quite exquisite description of what they had witnessed when "the Shekinah Glory rested upon the mercy seat of the Most Holy Place. They spoke of a glorious multi-colored light, continually flashing back and forth and some "beings" who were of "heavenly design" walking in and around this glorious light performing things which are unutterable, beyond description, and amazed them all so much and made them realize their own corruption to such a degree that when Rome invaded and the escaped ones came together in the deser, they set up their own community and were so dedicated to their task (with their own shortcomings in mind), they became EUNUCHS to remove themselves from all temptation in the world. It was a CASTRATED community. As crazy as this sounds, this is what the translations revealed. I can certainly understand why this kind of information was too dangerous for the world to know. It was a smoking gun of first-hand witnesses who gave exquisite detail of God with fear and trembling of the HOLINESS that they had witnessed and the power that emanated from that HOLY PENETRATING light. I was in awe reading it, and I am still in awe today though I have never been able to find it again. It was such a confirmation to me of things that I have witnessed, and I kick myself in the butt for not making copies of it all. I never saw, at the time, that something like this would ever be swept under some God-forsaken rug somewhere because "someone" decided that this material was too dangerous for us "sheeple". I was much younger then, and looked through "rose-colored glasses. I copy everything today. I've not seen anyone, anywhere, ever speak of these things and sometimes I almost believe that I saw it in a dream---but I know I did not.

I know it is important to see ancient copies of Scripture and show that they have been "untouched" for thousands of years. But this narrative of the daily life of the Essenes or perhaps some others who may have joined the Essenes, really hit home as to the REALITY of it all. Reading it was like BEING there and it is such a loss to us all. If, by some chance, I have missed it and they are still available, I would LOVE to see them again. Not just for me, of course, because they are burned into my memory--but for everyone else to see the first-hand witness of the Godhead.

An update. The female researcher I read was Rachel Elior. I can't believe I found her writings after all these years. She refutes most of the "conclusions" that other researchers have found and comes to entirely different conclusions about the Essenes--believing that they were not even the authors of the Scrolls and brought them with them to keep them safe (under the Greeks and then the Romans). Time to do some more research. She has quite a few publications to pore over. I hope their not all in Hebrew.
The TRUTH is stranger than FICTION.
