No family member has come forward to claim the bodies of the Lanzas.

Peter Lanza and his wife went somewhere almost as soon as they heard about the shooting. They left the house. Saw an article on it. Really, he needs to send someone in to claim the bodies if he himself doesn't want to appear in public. It's his responsibility, even if it isn't legally his responsibility.

In the USA there is no law that says anyone has to claim the body of a dead person. Thousands of people die each year that nobody claims. In this state, NM, the state has contracts with different mortuaries to cremate the remains.

When you think about it logically the father was divorced from the mom..it's not his business to claim her body.

He should bury the son, but since they hadn't spoken in years he probably could care less, and that also applies to the brother.

If the brother never claims his own mother...there was some problem in their relationship too..

Personally, if I had a family member like Adam Lanza I would let his body rot in hell before I would claim it.

well here, you take'em...

Let's see - if my child went out and shot up a school and killed a bunch of little kids I wouldn't want to collect his body, either. There are likely people watching every move the father and brother are making - probably lots of death threats. I'm sure they are in hiding.

This story just won't stop getting weirder...

A couple of days ago I read that Nancy's brother's wife said that Nancy's ex-husband was going to claim the bodies but the police still want to keep them for a few days. Also, Nancy's mother and three brothers were all together. I wondered why her mother wouldn't claim them.

Why would they sue the father? The mother had sole decision making. She took 100% responsibility for the son. Because I am an optimistic person, maybe had the father had joint decision making in Adam's life he would have gotten the help he needed and this never would have happened.

One should not let others rob them of their decency. The two bodies maybe responsible for horrific acts and inflicting unimaginable pain upon others but this family needs to do the decent thing. If the relatives fail to claim those bodies then they are no better then Adam & Nancy.
