Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29565393 Why do people WANT doom? Why do people want this to be the end? What about the kids who have so much love and life left? Friday freaked me out, my kids have field trips at school, Santa comes a few days later. Looking down at my smiling 3 month old daughter, I can't understand why all the spreading fear. Why do so many want terror and pain gloom and doom? Stop wishing that on others. Because the most of the glp'ers are depressed and tired of this world where we living at. Once youre bite of the appel youre in the game. |

I go through depression, I don't wish doom on people. We fell on hard times, but I still want Christmas for my kids. I guess I felt nervous about it. I know there are things we don't understand out there. But some of the theories are just wild. Like shoving a puzzle piece where it doesn't really fit. |

If it's major quake doom etc that's happening to someone else, then that's what they want. All you have to do is look at TV and news reports. The ratings spike drastically when something horrible is happening, and I think there are people who crave that type of "excitement." Even the Weather Channel. Their ratings soar when a huge storm is being covered, even if the storm is nowhere near them. People just like to see doom. The "world ending" type of stuff is a little different. I think for many, it's just interesting to talk aout and ponder. But, except for the extreme fringe who may actually want real doom for everyone because they're lonely etc, I think deep down, most people realize that the world is not coming to an end on Friday. Here's George Carlin's take on all this... Last Edited by Swearengen on 12/19/2012 10:41 AM |

Monk Meat User ID: 23229603 United States 12/19/2012 10:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thank you for an answer. I think I got caught up in the hype. Not for me, but my kids. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29565393 It's sad people are lonely enough to want an end. I'm married with 4 kids and feel alone sometimes. I think we all do from time to time. Here's to Friday, coming and going in peace! I hear ya. Hopefully none of your family members or friends are taking the doom date seriously, like many unfortunately will. The good thing about this date is, I call it the super bowl (or perhaps world cup) of doom dates. And after this one comes and goes without anything happening, people will reflect on this non-event and it should make it easier for them to brush off the next bullshit doom date that comes along. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 19871554 United Kingdom 12/19/2012 11:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't want Doom. Not really. I just want change. I'm tired of people, getting nastier towards one another, and tired of society getting worse, and tired of thinking about the next however many years of my life working, and watching it all go down the pan. I weep for my daughters future. For a world where she is picked on for saying 'please' and 'thankyou' For a world where someone sticking jewels on their privates is given more attention and respect than someone discovering a new species. People say it isn't getting worse, they say it was just as bad 'back in the day' but people had respect for each other. People had respect for this planet, for other peoples belongings, for family, and education. Back then intelligence was admired. These days the stupid are put on a pedestal, and the intelligent are mocked as weirdos who will never amount to anything, never find a husband/wife, or "get laid" as people say. How did that switch occur? When will it go back? CAN it go back? If the answer is 'no' then sometimes I do wish for a reset button. |
