You see, if you really think about this - it's not possible. All that meat. But it's happened many times.

This has to be something EXTRAORDINARY and SUPER FAST.

Just like these foxes. Foxes do NOT normally freeze to death standing up like this!

Perhaps I should add - yes, winter is part of it. But there is something extra BIG that is causing this.

I'm going to guess that the jetstream took a dip right in and around where this poor guy was standing. The jetstream dip would result in instantaneous freezing temperatures. Apparently this jetstream dipping phenomenon is something we may have to get used to going forward.

Maybe it's as simple as his legs got stuck in the ice, couldn't get out. The end. Sometimes thinking before OMG IT'S ALIENS!!! helps.

I can't find the article but apparently these foxes had been shot by hunters and kids put them like this as a prank. They didn't die like this.

I can't believe no one has suggested that the fox was crossing ice. Its two front paws are together. This indicates, to me, that they broke through before the back. Then the ice refroze while it was struggling. I've seen this with ducks. They cross the ice, break through, but cannot get back out before their feet are frozen in the ice.
