For the 23 states east of the Mississippi River, they analyzed the present-day climate from 2001 to 2004 and predicted the future climate from 2057 to 2059. This is the first study to predict heat waves for the top 20 cities in the eastern U.S. For example, Nashville will see a temperature rise of 3.21 degrees Celsius and Memphis will see a rise of 2.18 degrees Celsius. In comparing present climate to future, the researchers found that heat waves will become more severe throughout the eastern part of the nation. The Northeast and eastern Midwest will experience a greater increase in heat waves than the Southeast, which will almost equalize the temperatures between the future North and current South.

That is from Norway last year. We also found a fish trapped similarly. As for the fox it turned out it had been killed by some hunters but fell off a cliff. Some kids later found it and dumped it like that and created the flash freeze angle. If you look closely at the photos you can see the fox has been lying on its side for a while before ending up in that position.

Actually on second look there might be more cases documented there. Some of them are certainly that fox from here, but it's not as if those I clearly see are it are grouped together, so the source is more than misleading just in that context.

No matter how you cut it, or where you are from, anything colder than -40C is cold... and -50C is very cold!
We don't mind going out for events as long as it's warmer than -20C... anything colder than -20C is just too cold to go out in with any kind of comfort.

I grew up in Calgary and -30 through January For a month was nothing,,..

White river in northern Ontario by thunder bay has gotten to -55 years back,, last year in alberta Northern got down to -40 for a long time,,

That's not that cold. I see temps as cold as -40 to -50 in the winter sometimes. -20C isn't that bad, it is only -14F. They don't even cancel grade school for those temps around here.

Actually, there are some short-term weather predictions for Siberia and Northern China to match all-time lows this week, -50 (F) or below. Coldest snap since Putin took office in 2001, when there was a similar event.

We'll see how it plays out. Hope it's a false alarm and everything stays in normal range. Still, with the power outages it's going to be very difficult for people. They have community utilities, so if the city power goes out all the homes go cold. That happened in 2001 and has started this week as well.
