You are correct in the excessiveness. 100 cars is a bit much. Even 10 probably would be been a lot. How many cops actually work in the New England area though? Maybe this is a small amount? One from each town? Not for me to judge as I don't know the full story. Still glad to see gifts given to a kid in need rather than batons smashed into the face of a protester.

Obviously not the same fuck faces here in Texas who sexually assaulted those women on the roadside.

It costs about 100 bucks easy, round trip and tolls.
6 hours each way. they'll also have to stay overnight in a hotel somewhere. UPS and FEDEX go everyday and don't use tax payer resources. stupid pr stunt.

I applaud the Officers for their willingness to participate, and at the same time, I think this is a terrible waste of fuel and tax dollars.

Yeah, unfortunately there are probably plenty of 5 year olds in new england with cancer, probably live near a nuclear power plant...

it is really nice that they are doing this.... I do hope they are paying for the gas themselves. Seems like publicity. How about visiting all the children in Iraq or any country we oppressed and apologize for killing their parents or bombing their school.

Imagine what they'd do if someone joined alongside them delivering cannabis oil to that 5 year old kid with cancer...

Since they have so many people with that kind of time, might as well take up pizza delkivery too. They might earn extra cash that way.

This is either a useless stunt, or they are up to something else. What could that be? Well, it could be anything. A secret cocaine deal? Advanced training? A new Manhattan Project? Invaders from Denmark?

Or maybe they're just doing what they think is the best way to show their Xmas spirit. If that's the case, the people of PA need to think carefully about who calls the shots on how department resources are allocated.

Oh god, the low income folks came to this thread spreading the idea of "empathy"... of "I'm going to eventually get what you got."

Here in Oklahoma we call it "shop with a cop" for Christmas and numerous local police departments buy gifts for kids who otherwise would not recieve much in the way of gifts.

The kids get picked up by a police officer in uniform, transported in a cop car (front seat!), go shopping for clothes and toys, then usually get taken out as a group for lunch or snacks with other kids and cops.

Truly, it is a beautiful thing, and many civic organisations donate towards it.

Great public relations for the local police, plus kids get a positive experience getting to know their local officers as real, warm-blooded people.

My town has mostly single parents. The cops do a "shop with a cop" thing every month or so, so that these kids can have a role model in life.

The kids have to pay for what they buy. they just get the privledge of having time with an authority figure.

Probably going to try to 'cure' him by groping him inappropriately or throwing a few thousands volts of taser power his way.

Or maybe they are visiting to xtort him for his piggy bank money?

However the most probable scenario is they will visit the room, 'smell marijuana', knock him around a bit with loaded glocks then demand 'harsh' penalties and surveillance power over the parents.

Just speculating....

At least they are doing something positive.

Cannabis oil, as one poster said, would be a great blessing to this child.

The little boy may be related to someone in power.

IMHO it's a nice thing to do. God bless them for their kindness and may they be doubly blessed for their efforts!!

I am not sure how I feel about this. Knee jerk reaction is, "oh that is so nice". But then reality is that there are many sick children in every area of this country. The money spent on this while the states are complaining they are broke....
