The FSA will finish off Assad with material support from NATO. There is no need for NATO involvement beyond that. Why people still think that NATO wants to "go in" is beyond me. Even if he gets a couple of iskanders off what does it matter? So he lands a few thousand pounds of ordinance and takes out some allied hardware and some soldiers. Is that supposed to be a serious deterrent? Since when did the threat of losing a squad and a missile battery amount to a game changer? I dont understand. Do you think Russia would tolerate their Iskanders simply destroyed by foreign fighters ? It wouldnt end their and knowing the Russians we will wind up having their soldiers stationed directly in the path of Damascus. Then what... Look at what the russians did in Georgia..once a line is drawn they are known for double daring. Once Russian forces are engaged by any percieved nato forces its on. I have a feeling Assad is getting (ok by Russia) support to stop the rebels advance with any means possible which will be a combination of missile attacks loaded with chemical weapons. |

The logic doesn't follow. Either Russia gave the missiles to Syria or else Russians are manning the batteries. If Russians are manning the batteries then for them to fire on NATO would be an act of war by Russia on NATO. |

The systems are manned by Russians, the batteries in turkey are manned by German troops (or American) |

That also puts an end to Israel or NATO being able to sent in bombs via high altitude missiles as they can be tracked with Russian equipment so bogus car bombs are impossible to set off.
