Dust storm in West Texas north of Lubbock has caused a 23-car pileup on I-27, resulting in 1 fatality and 17 injuries. Winds sustained at 30-40 mph with gusts to near 70 mph! If you go about a half inch straight down from Denver,on that map, that's where we are in Northern New Mexico. Winds starting blowing hard about 3am this morning, and they stopped for awhile but are blowing hard again. It looks like blizzard conditions here right now, because the winds are whipping up the snow we already got a couple of days ago, and new snow is now falling softly..

[link to en.wikipedia.org] Yes, I'm here to verify everything that was said about this weather. I live in Amarillo and I'm in the center of it all. I've been watching the weather and even for here in the Panhandle it's been WEIRD! We've had red skies and 60 mph winds all day with blowing dust. Now, within 30 minutes, the temperatures went from 68 to 30 and blowing snow like a blizzard! The highway from Amarillo to Lubbock has been closed down for hours and the accidents were on the local news. I see everyone giving their weather conditions... That does not explain this wind map. This is one of those WTF moments. Nobody has an explanation for this? How can all the wind converge into the same spot? Rotating I can see, but this isn't a rotation, this is very odd.
