Thanks for the additional info!

I've been in Lubbock for nearly 15 years and this is one of the worst wind storms I've seen. We've had worse dust storms, but they typically don't last this long. The last month has seen a lot of wind, but little to no precip which only makes the blowing dust worse.

I-27 is shut down in both directions due to zero visibility. The access roads are open, but TexDot is escorting the traffic due to the extreme conditions. All local TV stations have been running no-stop coverage for several hours at the request of the DPS and TexDot to help to discourage travel throughout the South Plains and Panhandle. Flights in and out of LIA have either been cancelled or delayed indefinitely.

We've been here 20 years and it's pretty bad. Ron Robert's just announced on Kamc that 84 northbound at Post is shutdown. Traffic is being diverted to a truck stop in Post.

Lot's of flights are delayed and cancelled, too, so if anyone is flying out or picking someone up, call your airlines.

This didn't act like a normal dust storm. Our power went down for 4 hours and it hardly EVER goes down anymore. The sky is really creepy with this one, kind of like a Star Trek sky!LOL Our house was shaking like crazy this afternoon, too. It only does that when the wind is over 70 mph. It may be old and need remodeling, but it's STURDY!!!

Yeah, there have been models that said it could snow, but not many, so they haven't talked about it much. Even NWS didn't want to talk about it this morning, so....it's W.Texas! We'll see!

Hey Legion!!! Lovely weather we're having, isn't it!! We just got our power back about an hour ago. We were down since noon until about 4. This is WAY worse than I expected. Thankfully, I had time to get stuff ready this morning.

Dirt blizzard! That's a GREAT phrase for it! We're having well house roof doom. The tin is coming loose, but we can't get on a ladder to fix it just yet. Ron Roberts just said it's going to stay windy until tomorrow sometime.

Im in Ohio and I too keep getting Emergency Alert Red Flags fir our area and in Columbus where my daughter is at...weather is calling for widespread power outages thurs and fri due to high winds-- 50 mph+ wind gusts high temos in the lower 20's and snow both days...but we are ALSO to have rain tomorrow morning into the afternoon and then the temps nosedive into the 20's freezing all the rain on the roads.
These are "weatherbug elite" alerts.
