Strange little EarthQuake SWARM in Nevada ongoing

Madigan, Hope all is well! I had a nice, peaceful, quiet Christmas thanks! Quite a break from all the company since Thanksgiving.

Have been tied up a bit with a project. I noticed some periodic activity, but not like the swarm which prompted this thread. But I am more than just a little curious to what would prompt the activity that we saw last week, and the variable locations and shallow depths! More than a few of those could have been precursor to a much larger incident.

I am on my system, working from my home office today. I will keep my eyes open on second monitor, and watch for updates here as well.

There's another little swarm that has been going
for a while north of Vegas. It seems to get one daily.

Zoom out and you can see the cluster there north of Vegas.

The swarm has traveled north.

It is now near Mina, which is just south of Hawthorne.

So far this morning.

you can easily trace the valley too and see its a fault block zone down to stonewall mountain. I wonder if the farallon plate is scraping up more under NA

EDIT: started fault block, but now that I look at stonewall end again, it looks volcanic there.

Yes, it is old volcanic field.

Nevada is riddled with short fault lines.
They just cover the entire state and run north south
with all the mountain ranges.

I talked to a seismologist during the Hawthorne swarm
when a lot of us were wondering if the quakes were harmonic
out of the Long Valley caldera....being that the swarm was
so close.

Turns out no, Nevada is just becoming more seismically active.

Those government bunkers do not dig themselves out. A little blasting helps...and by government order it is covered up. Old hat now. Your taxpayer dollars at work...for the special ones.

underground air storage...protect the war crafts...makes perfect sense. Digging out new quarters for pilots etc. At least people have jobs.
