I'd have to somehow subsidize the bandwidth. For major events I can get as many as 20,000 simultaneous viewers.

I'm going to repeat the broadcast tomorrow night/morning and do a December 21st extravaganza on Night Skies Network. Stay tuned, my attempt to record it so that I can upload a copy to youtube may or may not work so viewing it live might be the only way here on in.

Field rotation is up to 180 degrees a night. Here's an example of field rotation over about an hour of time.

Astro, try using ManyCam with the nightskiesnetwork broadcast.

You can set it up to record and it's got a pretty small memory footprint so shouldn't tax your equipment too much.

Then you can upload it to youtube or whatever for later.

Here's their catch-all clause to fuck you over for any reason or no reason at all, which is no doubt what they would rely on if I made this into a civil suit:

Termination; Terms of Service Violations.

You agree that Twitch, in its sole discretion, for any or no reason, and without penalty, may terminate any account (or any part thereof) you may have with Twitch or your use of the Twitch Service and remove and discard all or any part of your account, User profile, and any Broadcaster Content, at any time.

Fuck 'em. I'm done with non-astronomy streaming services, period. I'm sure they all have a similar catch-all clause and I'm 2 for 2 on being banned. NSN is simple, 4 rules, and they understand amateur astronomy. The hardest is going to be the no foul language rule; I'm responsible for the behavior of you all in chat. I know I'm going to have to heavily police it.

Can you just disable chat I can only imagine the following gathering to cause you havok during this broadcast.

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't think I can just disable the chat outright. NSN is designed so that everyone can easily converse and collaborate. It's really like a constant online star party.

That's really the only way they'll be able to shut me down there, to try to post vile remarks on the chat since I'm responsible for the language that not only I use, but they as well. I'll try to be quick on the bannings. I'm not sure if I can deputize viewers or not, but I may deputize trusted posters if I can to help out. I think as long as it's clear that I'm actively policing the chat I'll be ok.

I'm so sorry they did that to you, hopefully you will be able to peacefully post in the site you intend to now.

Heads-up, I have complete cloud cover at the moment. I'll check again around midnight and see if it clears up in time. A cold front is pushing through right now, it may clear up in my area by about 4am. That should give me time to show that Saturn is not actually tilted from a polar aligned perspective, but it may not leave enough time to also show the altitude-azimuth perspective to start off. Jupiter will be getting quite low by then, so it'll be really tricky to catch it if doesn't clear up until 4.

Where are you at Astro??

Anyway, the clouds are breaking up! It is EXTREMELY windy out there and cold to boot, but I'm going to attempt it. The view might be shaky due to the wind, but we should be able to see some stuffs (at least Saturn I think, if the weather holds). Going to pack up my gear and start setting up. I'll make a new thread when the broadcast starts, should take me about an hour or so to set up.
