I am in Port Arthur, I noticed the gusty winds also. Thought maybe it was just me. Not abnormal per se, but also not ...... normal.

Right now, the winds are as consistently strong as I've ever known them to be . . . howling and whirling . . . it is truly weird.

I'm in the Hillsboro area. I feel like I'm living back in ND. The wind is just howling.

It is, really swirling and howling . . . it's blown stuff around the neighborhood.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30353078

I have to go to my mother's tomorrow. I imagine my first job will be to locate their trash bin which will probably be in the neighbors horse pasture somewhere. The last time we had winds like this was summer before last when the wind was like a 45mph blast furnace. It was like being under a welding torch...

Holy shit... the tree outside my window just made a really loud groan. I really don't feel like having a tree on my head.

Yep, I put two large trash bags out by the curb late evening and they are now gone!

Whoa, the gusts just increased as I write this! Have a tree by a window, too, and the way the wind is swirling, the tree is hitting the edge of the roof really hard.

I note that it is considerably colder, too!

Unnerving is the word.

Winds like this create subsonic 'noise' which plays havoc with the human nervous system.

Vague feelings of unease, discomfort, headache, etc are commonly associated with it.

It's like a 'full moon on steroids' for people with underlying neurological or psychiatric problems.

Watch out for the crazies!

I never thought about high winds affecting "on the edge" kind of people the way a full moon allegedy does . . . but I can understand how it might really unnerve people in general - especially if trees are hitting roofs, things are being blown over . . . also power lines - the wind carries through those lines and makes a very strong rumbling type sound.

Windy in Texas...Oh my, better grab my bug out gear. It's too bad somebody hasn't created a structure that provides clean electricity from all that wind. Oh wait....

Seriously get real with this BS. Strange wind in Texas? Next thing you know people will be posting about how weird it is to have cold weather in Russia this time of the year.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25885369

Well, it's not bs. Terrible towards Galveston too. Winds are as bad or worse than they were during hurricane Ike, just not sustained. I'd hate to see what they'd do if they were sustained.... and hey, smart ass, if you were a native of TX, you'd know that this is uncharacteristic for this time of year. Last week and all month, we've been running around in shorts and sweating most of the days and nights, not wearing coats or pants. It's unseasonably warm, not to mention it's the eve of the 21st, and excuse us if we're a little freaked out, the wind is blowing unbelievable outside. Bug out, hmmm, think it's a bit late for that.

I guess the red skies are from the Lubbock sandstorm earlier. It was pretty rough out there. I lived there in the sixties and remember how the sand would pile up at doors and windows. Glad we don't have that in this area, but yes, this wind is very strong.

See here's the thing...

My sister lives in Tyler. My cousin teaches in Houston. Both reporting nothing unusual. Performed a google search to see if anybody else is reporting these mysterious happenings besides the few in this thread. It's more probable that because of the hysteria with the date people are attributing a normal occurrence with the end of the world.

The truth is EQs and Volcanoes and Solar Flares have been happening since forever. Doomtards will always say its this or that. The general masses are paying more attention because of the Mayan dates and the media. The beginning of the year we heard people say this year we would have killer weather like record breaking tornadoes and hurricanes. The Frankenstorm was supposed to be this horrible thing that never amounted to much. Yes Sandy was bad but it really wasn't anymore devastating then Katrina in 2005. Has Katrina happened in 2012 people would have attributed that to the Mayan calender and pole shifts.

Stuff happens. Enjoy life. Life is short without having the end of the world looming over us. If there really was something significant enough that was going to happen that a civilization from a very long time ago knew about it...then there's nothing you or I or anybody else can do but make the best of the time we have now.

We are having strange weather here in southcentral Alaska, when I went to bed a few hours ago it was calm and clear. I woke up a little bit ago don't know why, and we're having very strong winds of around 45 mph and there's a huge circular system in the north pacific. The humidity went from around 80% to 30% now and it's suppose to be this way for days.
