4am incoming warning call on cell phone!!

Iowa, I have lived here for 30yrs and never had this happen. A lot of my friends and family got it also.

I don't know where the call came from. It woke me up with a wierd loud tone that was very unusual and scared the shit out of me.

People that live in Iowa do not need blizzard alerts, they live there, they know how to survive there. I wouldn't like anyone to be able to mess with my phone like that. This is unbelievable really.

The call doesn't show up in recieved or missed calls.

Same here. Totally unfamiliar ALARM tone. Had ringer & vibrate turned off for the evening and this alert apparently turned them back on. Quite unsettling...

I worked at a T-Mobile call center in the past and its OK. Legislation was passed a while back to allow for emergency messages to go out. All providers do it.

Also got it in Omaha....have Sprint........actually it was very helpful as I did not know about the blizzard warning.....it came in around noon and made a beep beep beep sound.

Got the same thing on U.S. Cellular. I got 2 of them. I can't remember the exact times but it was very early morning and woke me up twice. The time they sent them really made me wonder. It said it was from NWS, so I'm assuming National Weather Service.

Same damn thing happened to me a few weeks ago.. I live in ND. Woke up to a scary ass sound coming from my phone... One ive never heard before. It wasnt a call.. It was an alert for a blizzard warning.. Weird

Correct, there is no record that I can find that these messages were even sent.

We got an AMBER Alert on our phones yesterday as well. It scared the hell out of us, it sounded like an Emergency Alert on the T.V. It also did not have a history of the text.

they probably listened to your response to the alarm as well...

of course you are aware that 'they' can turn your phone on, change settings, take off all your stored data and listen whenever you have a battery in it...

that just feels really good, makes ya feel secure, right?

That's what made me wonder. They know most people are sleeping at that time and to set off an alert with the tone and loudness they did was uncalled for.

I got one this morning, about 11:am.
I had my phone on vibrate with no sound on.
The alarm sound it played is nothing that is saved on my phone, I even hooked it up the PC and searched every file.

It said it was from EAS
something about blizzard warning for my area(S.E. MN)
it was so fucking loud it was making my ears hurt and dogs go crazy, so I turned it off as soon as I could.

how in the hell do the send an alarm sound to my phone?
does this mean they can read/write anything on my phones HDD?

The answer to that question is yes. Plus they can listen and see everything you do on it.
