The storms are erupting along a potent cold front associated with a blizzard raging across the Midwest. Storms will continue to progress eastward today, threatening southern Georgia and northern Florida during the afternoon hours. The most widespread concern with storms will be damaging winds up to 60 mph. However, a few tornadoes and large hail are also possible. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATES: 6:30 a.m. CST Thursday: "Tornado warnings have calmed down now north of Mobile, Ala. Storms along the cold front are still producing wind damage," AccuWeather Expert Senior Meteorologist Henry Margusity said. 5:30 a.m. CST Thursday: "NWS Mobile chattering about tornado damage in or near downtown Mobile, Ala. Buildings damaged and trees down," tweeted @jimwxgator. 4:55 a.m. CST Thursday: Buildings were damaged by a possible tornado 7 miles east of Mobile Airport, Ala. Power outages have also been reported. 4:25 a.m. CST Thursday: A tornado watch has been issued for southeastern Louisiana, Mississippi, southern and central portions of Alabama and the far western Florida Panhandle until noon CST. Click here for details. 2:25 a.m. CST Thursday: Damaging winds associated with severe thunderstorms now plowing through central Louisiana. Thunderstorms are even making for a noisy early morning farther east in Alabama but not severe for now. 1:09 a.m. CST Thursday: Severe threat now expected to push into central Mississippi and eastward across the Mississippi River into Tennessee and Mississippi in the next few hours. Memphis, Tenn., and Alexandria, La., can be impacted overnight. 1:00 a.m. CST Thursday: NWS in Tulsa reports numerous power outages in the region with strong winds continuing overnight. 12:49 a.m. CST Thursday: Squall line with damaging winds about to blast through Little Rock and Shreveport in the next hour. A brief tornado spin-up cannot be ruled out. 11:36 p.m. CST Wednesday: Numerous reports of tree damage across northeast Texas as storms whip eastward. Damaging wind threat persists through the night and will move into Arkansas, and Louisiana. The cities of Little Rock and Shreveport can be rocked overnight. 10:08 p.m. CST Wednesday: Severe thunderstorms racing through northeastern Texas toward Tyler. Expect winds in excess of 70 mph and hail. 9:32 p.m. CST Wednesday: 62 mph wind gust recorded in Armstrong County, Texas. 9:31 p.m. CST Wednesday: "The front just moved through Dallas, with wind gusts to 40 mph, blowing dust and thunder," said AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Brian Edwards. As dry air moved into the city, the dew point fell from 60 to 32. 9:06 p.m. CST Wednesday: One inch hail reported near Muldrow in Sequoyah County, Okla. 8:59 p.m. CST Wednesday: 66 mph wind gust recorded at Dallas Love Field in Dallas, Texas. 8:49 p.m. CST Wednesday: 64-mph wind gust recorded in Randall County, Texas, 2 miles northeast of Lake Tanglewood. 8:42 p.m. CST Wednesday: 58-mph thunderstorm wind gust recorded in Bennington in Bryan County, Okla. 7:35 p.m. CST Wednesday: Tornadoes possible for western Arkansas, extreme southeastern Kansas, southwestern Missouri, eastern Oklahoma and extreme northeastern Texas through 2:00 a.m. CST accompanied by hail and thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph.
