The soldiers at Ft Hood weren't armed, stupid. What, do you think that all soldiers on state side bases carry around M4s? Only the MPs are armed except during training.

What you are suggesting is that a gunman is some type of omnipotent being that can't be killed.....except by law enforcement I suppose.

Obviously you don't know how things work on a military base. No one is allowed to walk around with loaded weapons on a military base unless they are on duty MPs. The Muslim Jihadist illegally carried his weapons into a movie theatre where no one was allowed to be armed. It took time for the MPs to get to the theatre and that is why so many were shot before anyone was on scene to return fire.

I'm reasonably positive this is NOT the reaction most blatheringly ignorant people were hoping for as their chance to "get rid of those evil guns".

Also, Oklahoma is about to introduce (actually re-introduce) similar legislation as well.

FWIW. I'm employed by the local School dist, one of the largest in the USA, about 70,000 students and....

while being in favor of Conceal carry (prefer open carry,I wish)...I'm not in favor of this idea.

I'm in maintenance and real fond of being shot at by "Miss Marple" because she did not recognize me and thought I was "there to Harm the Students"

I know at the bases here, they are always stationed at the gates, as well as inside the base. So where exactly were they.

But not teachers, EVERYONE should know that they are indeed packing and are well trained on how to use their firearm.

I would even be willing to pay more on my taxes to help pay for the training and firearms!

It's like a little city/town. They don't search you when you come on base. If you have an ID, you get on.

The MPs are at the gates and drive around on patrol. There are only a few, not 1 per square inch.

They most certainly aren't watching movies with those off duty.

Yes, and this will usher in the State vs. Federal constitutional crisis we've all been waiting for. Most of these states have already affirmed their 10th Amendment Rights, and you can bet your ass that some at least will stand by it when idiot VP tries to disarm everyone.

I only hope my state (TN) will have the balls to do so as well, but I'm beginning to think that our governor might just be a RINO (given his recent attempt to set up a state exchange for Obammycare - which was shot down by the people). That said, the Legislature is pretty solid conservative, so the pressure to do the right thing should be significant enough (I hope) to keep him in check...
