FWIW. I'm employed by the local School dist, one of the largest in the USA, about 70,000 students and....

while being in favor of Conceal carry (prefer open carry,I wish)...I'm not in favor of this idea.

I'm in maintenance and real fond of being shot at by "Miss Marple" because she did not recognize me and thought I was "there to Harm the Students"

With proper training.. this would not happen.
Even if it did.. why would he think his life is more important than a child's...?

So what is your plan, sparky..?

Continue to let innocents be slaughtered..?
 Quoting: Waterbug

well, maybe the "innocents" shouldn't go to places like that,
and then these things wouldn't happen.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4365896

Are you endorsing home-schooling or did you just go full retard..?
 Quoting: Waterbug

wow! yer right. our schools really aren't safe. are they?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4365896

the kids certainly aren't learning anything. they're just
government sponsored day-care centers.

Being armed didn't help those at Ft Hood, what makes you think arming a civilian teacher would be any different.

I'm reasonably positive this is NOT the reaction most blatheringly ignorant people were hoping for as their chance to "get rid of those evil guns".

Also, Oklahoma is about to introduce (actually re-introduce) similar legislation as well.

Arming a handful of trained/depustised teachers in combination with school SROs is an answer.

It has been going on for a long time in many schools already.

1992–1993 (44 Homicides and 55 Deaths resulting from school shootings in the U.S.)
1993–1994 (42 Homicides and 51 Deaths resulting from school shootings in the U.S.)
1994–1995 (17 Homicides and 20 Deaths resulting from school shootings in the U.S.)
1995–1996 (29 Homicides and 35 Deaths resulting from school shootings in the U.S.)
1996–1997 (23 Homicides and 25 Deaths resulting from school shootings in the U.S.)
1997–1998 (35 Homicides and 40 Deaths resulting from school shootings in the U.S.)
1998–1999 (25 Homicides from school shootings in the U.S.)
1999–2000 (25 Homicides from school shootings in the U.S.)

In 1994 many school districts began allowing CHL/CCH teachers to carry in thier classrooms, there is a downward trend.goaway

This is where I live and my mother is a teacher.

I am going with her in the next two weeks with her to get her ccw permit.

I am so proud of my mom, you guys just dont even know.

She recognizes that you can be a victim, or be proactive.

We all hope we would never have to use a gun in self defense, but it is nice to have that pound of metal pressed into your side if you ever need it.

Read some of the research out there - Sandy Hook Elementary was a 'Gun-Free' zone. People just will not look at what is in front of them when trying to find a start to a solution. You'd think that the horrific mass murder of school children and their brave Teachers, folks would put their own personal beliefs and political affiliations aside and get to workable answers...This is not difficult stuff...It takes Will and long term commitment..

Why are American's so Triple A rated stupid?

And the hillbillie folks from Tennessee the most stupid of them all.

Why are they so unable to think beyond guns?

There are numerous other alternatives that are NEVER considered.

For instance, if you want people in schools who can act as a first line of defence, why not arm up some security guards with long bows. Remember, the Welsh Long Bow is capable of puncjing through 2 inches of mild steel at 100 yards and at ranges of under 10 feet has the same impacting pressure wave of a Point 50 Magnum.

A Long bow will incapacitate or seriously hospitalise a lone gun man, yet will rarely kill on first use AND speed of reloading drags makes it hard for anyone to create a "massacre situation".

However much you laugh, as showing in the film :"Weatherman" people really, really move away from you scared if you walk down the street with one.

Now you are talking - disarm all the cops and VIP bodyguard outfits...even in the UK they would not be dumb enough not to have high powered fully automatic weaponry protecting the more valuable lives among us...They want to disarm the little people in case they aim high one day - this is the truth of it...defraying the 5th in the leftist political arena has zero to do with dead school children and everything to do with the safety of a few hypocrites...always look at the actions of your leaders from the left - none would be in favour of the tax-saving reduction of their own personal armed security...that would be unthinkable..

You advocate the use of a longbow versus a firearm..?
Really..? How quaint.

And.. as for your premise that people from Tennessee are 'hillbillies'..
People from Tennessee are 'ridge-runners.'
Hillbillies are from Kentucky..

And, I have lived here for 37 years.. consider myself a 'Tennessean'.. although I am still a 'Canadian' by birth.

How do you like them apples....?
