the assault rifle ban will go into effect, my friend,
because it only takes one single, itty-bitty little missing part (that is readily available on the under-the-counter-market) to make any of these semi-autos fully auto-matic.

You're talking about a $250,000 fine and at least 10 years in the Fed pen for anyone who did that (without a Class 3 tax stamp).

Why? You having ideas?

Jesus Christ, how long before a group of smart ass kids gets an armed teacher to snap and go postal?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3168735

Well, I think thats highly unlikely.

If they are going to pass laws like this, the teachers selected will be VERY well processed.

And if you select one, you must select another, to balance.

Have some common sense would ya?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6235765

It's also highly unlikely that someone will shoot kids in school. Less than a 1000 kids in the last decade have died in a school shooting, how many students in America? It's the equivalent of making every airline passenger wear a parachute or have a way to defend themselves because a very low amount of planes crash or a very low amount of planes are hijacked.

You should have some common sense...

I'm going to write my State reps and county sheriff in TN and tell them I support this legislation.

If you live in one of these states, please do the same.

its better than huddling in the corner of the room like a bunch of scared cowards, unarmed, waiting to be shot.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23367695

Just wait and see, initially it will seem fine but a few years along, if there are more in school shootings based on teachers losing it then the govrrnment will fall under major criticism.

A psychopath can easily pass evaluations, just like pedos who find jobs in education.

Whoever is proposing arming some any or all teachers should be fired from their position, when a perfectly sane and better solution is to have the guns locked until such time as they are needed - which will hopefully be never.

The solution should be preventative, if an assailant knows teachers can C/C, won't they just bring even more lethal arms to these places?

Even better, report the manufacturers.

AC, you should learn more about firearm laws than spouting off your suspicions and fears.

Fact, there are only a limited number of legally registered full auto sears (or full auto guns) that anyone could buy because they've been grand fathered in before the laws passed restricting them. They are also prohibitively expensive, running in the thousands of dollars. This would make an owner of a class 3 item even more responsible because they would be unlikely to throw away such an investment by being stupid.

But, anyone, manufacturing full auto sears for non government use would get slammed in a heart beat if reported to the ATF

ATF would be happy to oblige

Re: FL, MN, OK, OR, SD, TN are drafting GUN legislation to allow teachers to carry in schools
I'm sure every high school in America already has at least one teacher or staff member who would be able to carry a weapon in school. I can think of a couple teachers from my high school that were clear headed, smart, and I could definitely picture them carrying a gun in school. I think elementary schools may be harder to find someone in each school willing and capable, because I think of elementary teachers as nice young ladies that just want to be around little kids all day, but middle and high schools should be easy to find someone capable of being armed all day.

I'm sure you can picture a teacher in your high school, the guy that was the badass, who broke up all the fights, ran after school detention, etc. Why can't he carry a gun? In fact, my history teacher was a retired cop from a very high crime city nearby. I'm sure 99% of schools in America have someone like this. You're not gonna be training little 22 year old Cindy how to use a Glock. Give me a break people.

Re: FL, MN, OK, OR, SD, TN are drafting GUN legislation to allow teachers to carry in schools
Why are American's so Triple A rated stupid?

Why are they so unable to think beyond guns?

There are numerous other alternatives that are NEVER considered.

For instance, if you want people in schools who can act as a first line of defence, why not arm up some security guards with long bows. Remember, the Welsh Long Bow is capable of puncjing through 2 inches of mild steel at 100 yards and at ranges of under 10 feet has the same impacting pressure wave of a Point 50 Magnum.

A Long bow will incapacitate or seriously hospitalise a lone gun man, yet will rarely kill on first use AND speed of reloading drags makes it hard for anyone to create a "massacre situation".

However much you laugh, as showing in the film :"Weatherman" people really, really move away from you scared if you walk down the street with one.

Hmmm....

FWIW. I'm employed by the local School dist, one of the largest in the USA, about 70,000 students and....

while being in favor of Conceal Carry (prefer open carry,I wish)...I'm not in favor of this idea.

I'm in maintenance and NOT real fond of being shot at by "Miss Marple" because she did not recognize me and thought I was "there to Harm the Students"

Well of course if this is implemented there would have to be protocols to prevent something like that from happening.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30378203

Protocols, like Laws never prevent dittly shit.

Law abiding people abide the law only until they decide to break the law.. Laws don't prevent anything, only arrest to prevent further after the fact stuff. and even then plenty get murdered even in prisons.

Schools are way way too big anyhow, no wonder so much of this crap goes on.

Yes, they should require at least one teacher with a gun for every 10 classrooms/teachers. I am a teacher and I think this could work. We prob have about 100 teachers, so thats 10 guns against 1 if anyone is ever stupid enough to try to pull something.

"forced" to take my grandfather's M6 to school stop at the mcdonalds I used to work at manager i worked with sees me in the drive thru we hate each other she asks how did I obtain the car I ask for a hamburger, she gives me a hamburger I raise it to my lips and take a bite. My eye twitches involuntarily. Across the street a father of three falls down the stairs I swallow and look down at the hamburger in my hands. She gives me a hamburger I swallow and look down at the hamburger in my hands. I cannot swallow. There are children at the top of the stairs a pickle shifts uneasily under the bun. She gives me a hamburger I look at her face, and she is pleading with me. The children are crying now I raise the hamburger to my lips, tears stream down my face as I take a bite she gives me a hamburger. I am on my knees.
I plead with her to go across the street. She hears only children's laughter she gives me a hamburger I am screaming as I fall down the stairs. She is my child. I cannot see anything I take a bite of the hamburger the concrete rushes up to meet me I awake with a start in my own bed. My eye twitches involuntarily she gives me a hamburger as I kill her, I do not make a sound she gives me a hamburger...

Better idea, arrest and try Psychiatrists that have prescribed such as those who have killed because their Shrink had them put of SSRIs and other dangerous psychotropic drugs.

Put the CEO's of such Pharmacy companies in arrest, and sent to trail for manslaughter.

How may Psychiatrists by their own Diagnosis Manuals are in fact under the new guidelines, actually insane, have bi-polar mental disorders, etc, and et.al.?

Arrest the head of the FDA and charge them also with manslaughter.
