With that kind of logic, I'm surprised that you are not freaked out because police officers have guns.

Yes, they should require at least one teacher with a gun for every 10 classrooms/teachers. I am a teacher and I think this could work. We prob have about 100 teachers, so thats 10 guns against 1 if anyone is ever stupid enough to try to pull something.

The thing is though, each teacher/staff that gets qualified for this must carry concealed. This way any lunatics don't know who is carrying and who isn't.

Make the schools a "hard" target. It's basic common sense, built upon thousands of years of fundamental military doctrine. Why don't lunatics shoot up police stations? Because all the cops have GUNS.

My wife is a public school teacher, and she has a permit. We are in TN and she is going to do what she can to get on board with actively trying to get this legislation passed in our state.

they dont need to teach anymore, tablets and software do that.

Why not try a Life Alert-
Why not try having teachers, etc. wear a life alert alarm. You could possibly add a camera? They could wear it around their necks, and tap it a couple of times to set off the alarm. What do you think?

idk im in teaching classes right now and we go teach third graders a few times in the semester and then watch the actual teacher teach.... well they use programs like ur talking about to teach math and the kids dont pay attention at all

FWIW. I'm employed by the local School dist, one of the largest in the USA, about 70,000 students and....

while being in favor of Conceal Carry (prefer open carry,I wish)...I'm not in favor of this idea.

I'm in maintenance and NOT real fond of being shot at by "Miss Marple" because she did not recognize me and thought I was "there to Harm the Students"

I would recommend you go through the proposed legislation with a fine toothed comb and fully understand the law purposed, on each little jot and tittle, every word, every phrase, every clause, every sentence... and work to understand the desired consequences and consider the possible unintended consequences before you do such equally knee-jerk thing as approve of the passage of a law just because is 'seems' its going to do the desired job and 'others' are in favor of it -- usually these will have taken even less care to read and understand it then even perhaps you.

Law, that is to say, Legislation is not for the weak minded, its is very difficult to draw up legislation as a purposeful.

Consider also that you yourself are only one vote among thousands or tens of thousand or even millions of others your your same State Legislative District.

What are they going to do next? Lay bricks over where the windows used to be? Have a TSA checkpoint before you enter the school? Barbed wire fences around the school?

A poster mentioned using a taser. I believe this is a good idea. Teachers could also have a Life Alert around their necks. These precautions could save lives.
