You can bet that as soon as the police investigation was done, probably sometime early - very early the next AM - a pro clean up crew got in their and did a full restoration on the building, the rooms, furniture, paint, carpet, even drywall and doors were replaced or repainted as needed.

There are crews that do this kind of "clean up" and they can work magic when needed. I know because in 1990, my wife's son from her first marriage shot himself in the head. He was 16 at the time. Our maid had worked for another couple who's son had died under similar circumstances years before. She called her former employers while we were still at the hospital while the docs were trying to stop the hemoraging in his brain from the path the bullet ripped open going thru. She got the name of the local high end furniture company that had a "full service cleaning and restoration" department as part of their services. They showed up, got clearance from the police to proceed, and then took up the carpet, got the blood out of the floor boards where it had soaked thru the carpeting, they replaced the carpet, pad, drywall panels on the walls and ceiling, and then sealed, taped, and textured the entire bedroom where it happened. By the time we got back at sometime after midnight that night - there was no trace of the thirty paramedics trying to revive him in his bedroom nor of the gurney that he was hauled down the hall on, and across the living room, entry hall, and onto the front lawn where the helicopter sat down that had airlifted him to the Neurological Institute in our city. The stone floors on the entry wall and the outdoor porch area were cleaned and sealed again. I don't know how they did it all in ten or twelve hours but they did. We didn't have to come home to the trauma of seeing the house torn to hell and a bloody room with pieces of his brain embedded in the walls and ceiling and curtains and bedding. The bill for their services was very high. I sent the bill to my insurance carrier along with a copy of the police report, and they paid it without a word - even waiving our $1000 or $2000 deductible out of courtesy and probably sympathy for what had happened.
