Silvanus User ID: 30383281 Canada 12/20/2012 06:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | what i'd like to see is previous footage that looks anything like what's being shown in the OP's post. If there isn't any, then it's something new at the very least! Artifacts or not... Quoting: Silvanus I'm telling you, I've seen the same thing when processing the images myself as I sometimes do. When it happens I manually change the background subtraction myself to compensate (not always perfectly mind you). Their automated process doesn't even attempt to do that. It's the whole reason I started developing my own technique for processing the images dynamically rather than based on previous images. it's not that I don't believe you, i'd just like to see some actual images so I can compare and make up my own mind, that's all :) Well seeing as how I tried my best to manually compensate for it at the time I processed it, I'd have to redo all my processing from scratch to show the full effect. I don't have that kind of time today, and I won't have access to my desktop for a week after today. I'm sorry, but you'll just have to take my word for it for now. That's ok, maybe someone else can dig up older images to compare. The reason this thread caught my eye is because i'm an avid solar watcher and look at these feeds on a daily basis for the past 4 years or so. Never seen anything like it so i'm quite interested to say the least! |

Quoting: mikebo2 You would be taking your necessary belongings to your bunker or hideout. Please explain why you are wasting time talking about it? Anyone have an answer to the question? I do. I am poor. I have no bunker. My Grandmother who I have taken care of my entire life, wants me to take her to the mall tomorrow. The mall for me has always been a joke in my family as my own living hell. I hate it. Yet my beautiful Grandmother is a shop-a-holic. I have spent 1 to 2 days there every week for almost 46 years. (since birth) Now I might have to spend the ending of time trapped at the Montgomery mall. I am here so someone can convince me that the end of time will not happen while I'm in hell. |

That's ok, maybe someone else can dig up older images to compare. Not unless someone else can process the raw BEACON images in a manner similar to what NASA does. I can, but I know of very few here besides me who can do it. Here's an example from a year ago. Now bear in mind I was trying to compensate for the over-darkening and erred on the side of letting some of the frames be too bright and retain a lot of glare. Notice how much the glare fluctuates over time: |

Dr. Astro Senior Forum Moderator User ID: 4211721 United States 12/20/2012 06:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow, the sun over-exposed. Who cares? Oh right, you're one of those idiots who thinks I'm a liar and every lens flare is planet X. Right? Wrong that pic has the exposure turned all the way down, If its set at normal or high, the pic ends up being a white flash. So you don't know what over-exposure is. Got it. I don't care what you had your crappy camera set to, that IS an over-exposed sun. Can you see the sun as a sharp disc half a degree wide in the sky in that picture? No, you can't. |
