I've had some very important lessons taught to me over the last few months. Nothing I didn't already know, but still very sobering.

The first was the great Twinkie run. First it started out as rumors and nothing more. Hostess may shut down, may not be able to reach deal with unions, then it switched to the idea that they would be able to reach an agreement, back to oooops, they're going under. I actually knew they were going under, and sat around pondering what that meant. Many thought that hostess would be bought up, that the supply would continue some how or another, but as of today I still sit here without any twinkies available to me. Now keep in mind this is a nutritionally void junk food that I don't ever eat, or perhaps pick up one of their snacks once every 2 or 3 years. Perhaps this is why I hesitated to go buy any, because it really made little since to do so.

THen the great gun run, Once again, it started out as rumors, Obama is going to take away gun rights, for years we've been hearing it. Many went out and bought the idea of tighter gun laws even. Then to get elected he pretended to not have any interest in taking away gun rights, to as of this week, he's made it his number one priority to take away gun rights, appoint special persons in charge of figuring out how to do so. I cannot find an AR-15 in any store in the entire city, and I live in a rather large city. No hi-capacity magazines, no ammunition. I go to the store and when I get to the gun section, it's the same feeling all over again as staring at the empty hostess shelf.

Once again, I don't have an AR-15, not a big fan, and don't really feel like I have a need for one, but now I have no option to buy one if I did make that decision.

Now imagine food, Hostess was something no one needed to survive, AR-15's are debatable, but both of these items have an extremely low percentage of the population that feels they have to have them. Food to continue living is not the same thing. Food will dwarf everything else once everyone figures out that as of right now this very moment we are living literally hand to mouth as far as global food supplies go.

This means that one more flood, one more disaster, one more record drought and millions of us will in the most literal sense of the word, starve to death.

Yesterday in fact I talked to a person that worked for the Oklahoma Land Conservation Corporation. He said that he has never seen it this bad, and that if we have one more year like we've had everyone is cooked. He told me that even those who were responsible and had planned for such events as this, were now hanging on by their finger nails.
