In rebuttal of OP's post: Why does the Social Security Administration need all the semi-automatic ammo? Are they military trained?

Re: Why would any non-military person need a semi-automatic weapon?
I hate stupid...It is SEMI automatic. That means it fires once for every trigger pull.
And there are plenty other semi automatics that are far more powerful than a .223 caliber.
Everyone is afraid of them because they look mean I guess.
And one more thing. The pistols that nut job used were also SEMI auto's.

In a close quarters battle a shotgun is a devastating weapon, far more powerful than an AR 15 in .223, you can even get them in SEMI auto too.
Also GREAT for hunting rabbits and other cut, furry, and tasty animals.

I get so tired of hearing all these gun tards talking crap that they know NOTHING about.

Look at this way OP:

If the government bans semi-autos and then tries to confiscate them, that under the Second Amendment, constitutes an act of war.

The Second Amendment exists to keep government tyranny in check. Gun confiscation is a tyrannical act. If government tries to do this it will start a civil war.

Second Amendment gives us the right. It's not a question of need. That whole inalienable rights thing. Simply put, the government should have no say in how I defend myself. The Constitution wasn't written to tell me what to do, but to tell the government what they cannot do.

Your point? You miss the spirit of the law. According to the Founding Fathers, if the state has access to those things, then so should I to maintain the equilibrium.

Re: Why would any non-military person need a semi-automatic weapon?
I will say it again. The right to bear arms in self defense is an inalienable right. The government should have no say either way. Self Defense is me being able to field a weapon superior to that of my enemy. If the government says my only means of defense is a little one shot pea shooter, while some thug is packing a tec 9 machine pistol, then my self defense is kinda meaningless isn't it.

God gives you the right to defend yourself. The founding fathers insured the individual rights of the citizens. The radical left has referred to these things as privileges, and overstepping government agencies and leftist continue to erode
the foundations of the United States. It is good to see people speak out about this.

Why does the government need semi-automatic weapons?

Why does the government need tanks, and atomic bombs, and missiles, and jet bombers, and teargas, and rubber bullets, and tazers, and killer drones, and all that other ridiculous bullshit they use to murder innocent people every fucking day.

I want a semi-auto, like the rifle I carried while in the Army (SA-80, total piece of shit), to protect my wife and kids, when some fucking scumbag tries to kick the front door in.

I don't have a problem with shooting scumbags.

to protect family against crazy people or thugs like Adam Lanza

I live near a prison what if there was a prison break and they were able to still weapons come to my home looking to hide they would rape and kill us all
a simple handgun or shotgun cant defend multiple thugs
thats why I live in Texas because you are less apt to try to go on someones land you dont know because you will get shot
police here everytime they here gun shots in my neighborhood go and verify whos shooting and make sure its not endangering others you must have 10 acres of land in parker county to shoot semi autos so there are laws here
We are not allowed to shoot automatic weapons in Parker County

Re: Why would any non-military person need a semi-automatic weapon?
Over the course of history (continuing into today) there have existed tyrannical, oppressive governments/organizations, governments/organizations which wish to seize resources/countries, and groups which wish to wipe entire racial/ethnic/religious groups from existence. They often have the power of military force and law to back up whatever they want.

How can an average citizen ever hope to change such circumstance without a way of defending/protecting their right to make a living, their community, their property, their family, and/or their own life? Do you think a knife or a small handgun has any chance against tanks, fully automatic weapons, large groups of armed soldiers? Maybe we have become complacent because most do not live in the midst of such strife. However, our ancestors did.

We're playing for keeps here. No turning back. Do you REALLY think 50 to 1000 years from now that everything will be the same as today? Can we know for certain that our future, and that of our children and their decendents will not require such protection? Ever? What if we are invaded by another country? What if we have a large scale geological or solar even that wipes out electrical service to a very large area for weeks/months/years. Do you REALLY think you'll have your own private security detail assigned to you and your family 24-7 to prevent looting and keep your family save? How did that play out for Katrina or Sandy? What if a disaster covered a MUCH larger area?

Do you REALLY think that banning guns will prevent any future gun related tragedy from occurring? Did making drugs illegal prevent deaths from drugs today?

Think it through.

Exactly Adam Lanza could have used worse weapons other than guns he was very intelligent he could have created explosives and killed more students the news keeps saying how many bullets he had let me correct this its how many bullets his mother had those were her guns and her amunition she is the one at fault her sorry to say but she should have secured her weapons and kept them from the reach of her mentally unstable child thats just like letting a school kid have access to weapons she should have never let him know she had guns kept them locked in a safe we need more responsible gun owners and laws that keep people who have mental issues from being able to have access to guns or if there are children in home they must be kept locked up I also believe you should have to have an insurance policy if you are going to have guns in your home around children just like you have to have insurance if you have a pool and you are required to have a gate to protect children

Pretty much every hand gun is semi-auto. All it means is each time you pull the trigger a round is discharged. It does not mean multiple rounds are fired while holding down the trigger.
