Anonymous Coward User ID: 19124876 France 12/20/2012 06:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 1) The winter solstice will happen at a specific time. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24854327 2) That specific time can be translated into different time zones. 3) Understanding the above, we all get there at the same time. The winter solstice is the winter solstice. We all get there at the same time, just not the same time zone. Make sense? Seriously? Ok Look............. for example: If there is going to be a boxing fight in the United States during 6PM PST on Pay Per View....that would be the same as 2AM UTC time. In order for the whole world to tune in to watch the fight, you would have to figure out your timezone based off of when the fight will be which is 6PM PST. Everyone that will be watching the fight will be tuning in at the same exact time, but it will be in different time zones. If you do not understand that, I cannot help you. You are beyond repair. Joke, bro... I think I get it. It's very very complex, but thanks God, we have genius like you to enlighten us. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24854327 Why? Most basic answer is, they believed it was the beginning of the New Age, or their masters were coming back. I guess we shall see I suppose. I propose, suppose, add something that rhymes here... Juxtapose? Meet the new boss; same as the old boss. Trust in those that seek the truth. Doubt those who find it. |

mikebo2 User ID: 18012248 United States 12/20/2012 06:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok, I HAVE TO make this thread because there are SO MANY people around the world that don’t grasp the following fact: Quoting: Info Guy 24854327 It doesn't matter if it's the 21st or the 22nd in other countries. Some countries will always be 1 day or more ahead of others. The MAYAN countdown is very specific. Convert Dec 21, 2012 11:11 AM GMT ....to your timezone in the world. For some it will be the 22nd and for some it will be the 21st. This is when the Mayan calendar expires, which just happens to be on the winter solstice at 11:11 AM GMT TIME ZONE on the 21st. PST = Dec 21, 2012 @ 3:11 AM EST = Dec 21, 2012 @ 6:11 AM London, England = Dec 21, 2012 @ 11:11 AM Rome, Itay = Dec 21, 2012 @ 12:11 PM Sydney, Australia = Dec 21, 2012 @ 10:11 PM Perth, Australia = Dec 21, 2012 @ 7:11 PM Jerusalem, Israel = Dec 21, 2012 @ 1:11 PM Rio De Janeiro, Brazil = Dec 21, 2012 @ 9:11 AM Madrid, Spain = Dec 21, 2012 @ 12:11 PM Moscow, Russia = Dec 21, 2012 @ 3:11 PM Baghdad, Iraq = Dec 21, 2012 @ 2:11 PM Now shin this pit so we can get rid of the shills who claim it already happened. It won’t happen until those time zones listed above. It’s sad someone has to come up with a list like this. You would think this info would be common time zone knowledge. Thanks for the info "OP". I also don't think anything is going to happen accept a bunch of people feeling foolish by the time Christmas arrives. |

Source of Belief The Mayan “Long Count” calendar tracks “Great Cycles” of time, and is one of at least three calendars that the ancient Mayans used. It is important to note that one particular calendar indicates that December 23, 2012, is the end of the current cycle of time—which began August 13, 3114 BC, on the Gregorian calendar. The Mayan calendar itself states nothing of the world coming to an end, or of any cataclysmic events occurring. It states only that the current time cycle will end. |
