Well, we know that it is not "exactly" Dec 21 when the whatever is going to happen will happen. We know that is in particular WHEN the Mayan calendar ENDS. Which it has a specific time and date. Judging by those facts, it might very well be 22nd in some parts of the world when stuff starts to happens. That is if we consider not only the solstice but also the aligning of the planets around 6-7 pm (not sure what time zone).
All we have to do is wait until the calendar ends, which is said at 11:11. I am not sure why people say is GMT or UTC if the Mayans were in Mexico and central America. I guess the real time should be 6:11 EST lol. but since we go by a standard of time setting off from GMT/UTC, I guess that is why people decided to go by it as the official time of ending instead of "Dec 21st 6:11 Central America and Mexico time lol.
Anyways, the world is not going to end.
The calendar is in the same stone as a "deity" also referred as the blue star. It could very well mean that on this date when this calendar ends, the deity will come back to earth.

One thing tho that I find contradicting is: The Mayans supposedly received technology and teachings from the "UFO" to construct structures and other sciences methods. However, Spain never really discovered any sort of technology the Mayans had nor structures similarities until they basically conquered Latin America. So, how come when the Spanish went to Latin America, they already got much advance systems than the Mayans whom supposedly had out of world beings help?

How did the Mayan see how our earth is today,no money no jobs,wars etc,how did they know that today was the tipping point,one way or another our earth as we new it is gone,and with no strong leaders to move us forward ditch the debt start all over again then the most likely outcome will be world war 3, its a new age but still with old way of thinking and war is the likely outcome,its the one chance to unite the people of earth and no one wants to do so.

Earily quiet here at the moment. Sky is eary too, with some clear patches of blue and some dark cloud. The early light was a kind of lemon colour and the direction of sunlight very evidently at its furthest southeast. More rain is forecast for today. It does feel very peaceful.
