The SUN is FROTHING - Is this normal?

I think it's doomy.

Because:

1) there is very little information on sun froth / magnetic froth on the internet - and yet you can SEE IT at spaceweather.com.

2) If you look at the pic of the sun, you can see tiny bits of that whitish area all over - it's just that now, near the sunspots, there are MASSIVE bits of white - the "froth".

I've been watching spaceweather for months.

Never seen froth before.

Today is Dec 21.

So maybe the real 'three day of darkness' is actually THREE DAYS OF FROTHING!!!

The sun has not produced a major flare in weeks. NOAA forecasters say the trend is unlikely to change today with only a slim 15% chance of M-flares and a 1% chance of X-class flares.

When it wakes from it's slumber, it could get interesting.

Take from that what you want. Personally, I think it's very odd that the sunspot that was very active before it was earth facing became so docile. It had looked like it had the potential for X or at least M flare activity then it died out to the surprise of many.

This was the sunspot some of us feared - then all of sudden it's asleep?! I bought into NASA's explanation of that orb until I saw these videos. The prediction was a day late - but the results were there.

Yep. Thankfully it wasn't earth facing. Our earth facing spots are sound asleep. We've had quite a few big misses. I'm betting when this one comes around it will die off too.

I've never heard of frothing before and Spaceweather is talking about it like it's a regular occurance.
