Beyond this however, as we get into early and mid January, we may finally see some big coastal storms give snow to the big cities as the NAO goes back negative and the PNA finally goes positive. After the plains got blasted with the first big snowstorm of the year for the plains and Great Lakes, eyes now turn to the Ohio Valley, Mid Atlantic, and the Northeast as a storm will travel from the Southern Plains through to the Virginia Capes.

Discussion:

A digging piece of energy will be approaching the West coast in 36-48hrs and continue to dig into the southern rockies. Meanwhile there will be a small shortwave running through the OH Valley propelling a weak area of Low pressure to form that could have some snow lovers smiling for a little white Christmas from SE OH into Southern New England. C-4″ is possible Christmas morning in those areas. While this shortwave exits off the DE Coast Christmas day an area of low pressure will be gathering in central Texas. Over the next 2 day (25-26) this low will continue to gradually deepen as it moves ENE and then NE. The 26th we should have the low pressure near the Central/Eastern TN/KY area. As the storm deepens there will be heavy precip forming to the N and W of the center thrown back into the cold air. This will cause a swath of possible snow from eastern OK through AR all through the OH Valley. As the system moves N and E it will begin to transfer energy to a second low in VA. This will create an even heavier precip shield through much of OH, PA and NY. As the low transfers to the coast and scoots off NE, New England will be next in line for this swath of snow. Farther SE there looks to be sufficient cold air at the surface for a sleet/fzg rain and at times snow event. This would be in Nrn VA/ MD and much of NJ. Still at this time we are 4-6 days out, but things are finally shaping up for a solid interior snowstorm.

Hey, Luisport, I agree with this. This Draco storm just passed us here in NY. I've checked out the currents of the front in the Atlantic, offshore N.E. U.S. and I don't get a good feeling. To me this front and the remants of Draco along with the conditions in the Great Lakes area and a small storm that is in the S.E. States ... all of that could amount to a SERIOUSY MAJOR SUPER STORM for the N.E. and the East Coast to Mid-US States. I don't like it. I don't get a good feeling from it.

I think theres going to be a Big Snow and Ice coming down the west coast, BC area-ish, coming down from the northwest. I saw it in a dream Like I was watching the weather forcast, a map of the N.A. and big Blue streak coming down an saw ice and snow in my mind.

Is this the one thats supposed to happen this Wednesday/Thursday? My local weather says it is something to watch and the European models think it my cause significant snow for WNY.

The models show several comming, some smal and some very big in 1-2 january... but we have to wait to know exactly how this will evolve. I will post everything i find about this!

Will it bring anything to central texas? We need rain/snow very very very badly....

I guess this is the one they are talking about......Good we have not had much snow so far this winter :)
