Goodbye to Animal Ownership, Goodbye to Animals? Love Won’t Allow It
As astounding as it may seem, laws and regulations have been or are now being put into place to remove the right for Americans to own animals. This is being done under many pretexts, all of them bogus, all camouflaged as beneficial for either the animals or public.

The gov't can make all the laws they want. It does not mean we consent. Providing food for our families is the true definition of independence. If they try to take away too many freedoms, the state humane officers may find themselves dead on the farmers lane. People in the country talk and no one will let this go down. They may take out a couple farmers , but the backlash will overwhelm them.

I posted this in a similar thread earlier...

From the link -

“This bill would provide, in addition and with specified exceptions, that it shall be a crime, punishable as specified, for any person to willfully sell or give away as part of a commercial transaction, a live animal on any street, highway, public right-of-way, parking lot, carnival, or boardwalk, or to display or offer for sale, or display or offer to give away as part of a commercial transaction, a live animal if the act of selling or giving away the live animal is to occur on any street, highway, public right-of-way, parking lot, carnival, or boardwalk. The bill would provide that a notice describing the charge and the penalty for a violation of this bill may be issued by a peace officer, animal control officer, or humane officer. By creating a new crime, this bill would impose a state-mandated local program.”

This sounds similar to what the USDA wants to impose on a federal level, where you will not be allowed to ship puppies without being a licensed, inspected kennel.

Also from the link:

HOARDING:

In Vermont, they have been considering house bill 371 on animal hoarding which defines an “Animal hoarder” means a person who: (A) possesses five or more animals …. ” This does not exclude livestock, so would, in an instant criminalize farmers raising animals. It also does not include harm to animals as the basis of determination. Simple ownership of a small number of animals is the crime.

How would breeders factor in? Unless someone only has two to have "a litter", usually a breeder intent on using specific lines are going to have at least a few animals to diversify their stock. HSUS garbage where they want to eliminate all breeding and animal ownership.

I wish that would happen, but I don't have much faith...people didn't seem to care when USDA proposed similar stuff, right now it's still pending as far as I know but I haven't looked for an update recently. It will impact not only dog breeders but anyone who produces animals that are not outright eaten.

So, PETA's long term plan of eliminating pets entirely is becoming the norm?

[link to www.peta.org]
but we believe that it would have been in the animals' best interests if the institution of "pet keeping"—i.e., breeding animals to be kept and regarded as "pets"—never existed.

Yep! It's been proposed on a federal level, but apparently (just like other Agenda 21 type garbage) they decided they'll try to implement the stuff locally as well.

I saw this link from your post. These things they're doing will have no effect on factory farms, just the family farmer or organic farmer. This is only more Agenda 21 tyranny, which also considers domestic pets 'unsustainable'.

Exactly! It's going to put small, hobby breeders (and not just of doggies but ANY animal) like myself in a rather unsavory position of choosing to be inspected (if they want to ship, and most do, I have not so far but want the option to remain open) OR give up breeding. Whole lines or breeds could die out, which I guess is the goal.

They would rather wipe species out then see them as “slaves” to humans.

They would rather kill your pet then see it “suffer” happily in your home, as they call it a “fate worse than death

How crazy are they? I remember when the near extinct panda was born in a zoo in Europe, PETA sued to have it put down.

Not sure about you guys but I hope to be reincarnated as my cat in my next life.
I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw.

First to go: The Pit Bull.

Followed by any other good home protection animal.
All hunting dogs, like beagles, and Walker hounds.
Then decorative breeds, like teacup poodles.

Imagine a world with no dogs. Except dingos.

I did not see this mentioned in the article, but there are places that have implemented MANDATORY spay/neuter laws. Usually these dogs must be altered by the age of 4 months!!!

Dogs and cats cannot be a free for all. Humane society admits they are way overwhelmed and underfunded and have to put the majority of their animals to sleep. Pet ownership should get some regulation. They deserve this.
