The 2012 Galactic Alignment as seen by ISS -- Amazing!

Mars, Venus and Jupiter are *incredibly* easy to spot in the sky. If you don't know how to see them, you shouldn't be commenting on planetary alignments.

The Mayan calendar Long count (and many of their cycles) comes to en end today. There is no texts which state an exact time for that happening, other than todays date. The galactic alignment itself happens in a few hours.

I hope you guys realize there is nothing remotely associated with a galactic alignment that you are actually going to be able to see on a camera orbiting the Earth, right? It would be like an ant trying to judge the alignment of an object in New York with an object in California. There is simply no meaningful frame of reference on a scale that large. And while we're on the subject of scale, it would take the light that would show you this event far longer than your lifetime to actually reach you. And the individual planets within our solar system are not supposed to be lining up in any meaningful way for this event. So I just don't understand what you expect to see on an IIS camera...

I don't think NASA is going to give us any more footage. If that doesn't tell you how screwed our country it, nothing else can. We should have access to these feeds, after all, it was our tax dollars that paid for them.

But the fact was, there was clearly an alignment that created energy that looked like it would have bridged together. Is this the same energy that lit up the pyramids?

Haha no problem, that star is called Rigel (also called Beta Orionis), it´s the brightest star in the orion constellation and the sixth brightest star to be seen from earth.
