Spam stores 40 years or more. They were still eating the cans they stockpiled for WWII in the 80's.

Spam won WWII by the way. Without it England and Russia would have starved before they beat Germany.

Spam may keep for years but NOT IN PULL TOP LIDS.

WHY THE HELL DO YOU THINK THESE CANNING COMPANIES HAVE GONE TO PULL TOP CANS? THEY JUST WON'T KEEP AS LONG AS COMPLETELY SEALED CANS.

I like mine sliced about a quarter inch thick and fried. You put that on toast and you're living large as Charlton Heston in Omega Man.

They say that it is cheaper to make pull top lids.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!!

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But one thing for sure is they won't store/have shelf life

as long as the old cans that are not pull tops.

I might be willing to concede that the pull top seals might not last 40 years, but sealed is sealed. The pull top is not any more or less sealed than the key and strip model of the past, and the can opener style can that came before that. I'll set one aside and let you know in 40 years.

Mark it on your callendar and come back here December 20, 2052. Unless it all ends tomorrow. In which case I'll be pissed I bought all that fucking Spam.

I had a box of pull top chicken chunks that didn't last 2 years. They were stacked 3 cans high and most of the cans had residue around the seal when I pulled them out. The residue smelled like chicken. When I opened them some were mostly dry. Obviously I threw it all out even though it all surprisingly still smelled "right".

That's what i like about Spam, it's nice and dry. Canned chicken is way too watery. You should have tried it. Drying that shit out might have made it edible.

.

Aldi has the best canned chicken breast [not pull top]
$1.79 for a 12.5 oz can. I put the chicken, veggies,
spices, butter, water, rice in one pan. All cooks together.

Whatever you do, if the Zetas ask you for a taste of your SPAM, don't give them any.

I like spam. My favorite way is to put a slice in the pan to sizzle and then pour pancake batter over so that it's embedded. Put it on the plate and cover it with syrup and it's good eating. yummo.

I have 20 cases of pre Fukushima SPAM. They cost around $1.40/can when I bought them.

Last time I checked, they are $2.80 - $3.40.

I think I can get $5- $8 per can for the ones mfg'd before 3-11-2011.

Had some this morning with my breakfast. Got it a few days ago though. Tastes best sliced thin and cooked until it's a little crispy on both sides between two pieces of toast with an egg, some cheese, and a little mustard. Mmmmm
