Quoting: DOCTOR DOOM Stupid ass has been walking around with a million dollar scratch-off ticket in his wallet - he aint ever gettin it back! Whoever has it should make him an offer of a 50/50 split instead of the reward being offered... Link: [link to www.myjournalcourier.com] Christmas won’t be very merry for a Jacksonville man unless one lucky purchase is returned. Dan McGinnis lost his wallet Tuesday. It contained a scratch-off Illinois Lottery ticket worth about $3.9 million before taxes. He is offering a $50,000 cash reward “with no questions asked” for the return of the winning ticket and four credit cards that were in the wallet. “I was going to cash it in on Dec. 24 in order to make a deposit on a charter flight to Miami for the Notre Dame-Alabama college football title game on my birthday, Jan. 7,” McGinnis said. McGinnis, part owner of The Irish Toad bar in downtown Jacksonville, said he noticed his wallet was missing when he got dressed Wednesday. He said one of the other owners of The Irish Toad found his wallet — minus its contents — about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in The Salvation Army parking lot next to the bar. McGinnis said he had signed his winning ticket and that it was of no value to anyone else. “Winners must show their driver’s license or a photo ID to claim their winnings,” McGinnis said. “I think I’ll get it back. It is of no use to anybody.” He said he put the lottery ticket in his wallet Monday because he decided to collect his winnings a week earlier than he originally planned. “I was going to go to Springfield Monday to cash it in, but because of the snow I decided to wait until later this week,” McGinnis said. For the past five months, McGinnis publicly denied that he held a multi-million-dollar winning lottery ticket. That changed Wednesday. When he discovered the ticket was missing, he called the Journal-Courier to report he had indeed won, the ticket was missing and he was offering $50,000 for its return. “I told a couple of friends that I won, but I didn’t want anyone else to know because I didn’t want to get a lot of phone calls from people bothering me,” McGinnis said. “I just wanted to cash the ticket in for the lump sum of about $3.9 million, go to Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and lay on the beach, and then when I got back to Jacksonville, just tell people all the money was gone.” McGinnis bought the $10 scratch-off, $5,000-a-Week-for-Life lottery ticket in July at the Circle K convenience store on South Main Street in South Jacksonville. Looks like he got a little pay back from God, for all of that lying he did. |

Those tickets are the longer ones that you'd at least have to tri-fold in order to even get in your wallet. And who here would tri-fold a 3.9 million dollar winning ticket, let alone carry it around with you. I'm pretty sure most people would put that ticket in a safe place until they are ready to cash it. |
