"For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home." — Vincent, Gattaca |

Brown's book is remarkable for its virtually complete absence of any data that would qualify as scientific by even the most liberal evidential standards. His "findings" consist entirely of unverified subjective experiences, and the reader searches in vain for anything vaguely resembling a controlled experiment. Brown neglects to mention either the results of a recent government-appointed scientific panel on remote viewing, which concluded that "evidence for the operational value of remote viewing is not available, even after a decade of attempts," or the critiques of Ray Hyman, a psychologist at the University of Oregon, who has shown that the scientific evidence in support of remote viewing is seriously flawed. Philosopher David Hume maintained that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence; Brown's evidence is, to be charitable, singularly unimpressive. In light of Brown's claims, I recently challenged him to a test of his alleged psychic abilities. I proposed that he appear at a meeting of my undergraduate seminar on Science and Pseudoscience in Psychology, where my students and I would subject him to a simple controlled experiment examining his capacity to remotely view stimuli in an adjacent room. I assured him that he would have considerable input regarding the selection of stimulus materials, and agreed to publicize the results of this test in both Emory newspapers regardless of its outcome. But Brown categorically refused. His reasoning was curious: In his e-mail response to me, he asserted that "tests of the type you have talked about are very old hat" and that the current status of remote viewing "goes light years beyond that which your letter suggests." But if Brown's psychic powers are as advanced as he claims, shouldn't he be able to pass an elementary test of these powers with flying colors? |

Because C2C was blasting doomsday shows weaving Hale-Bopp into the carrot at the end of the stick. Dr Brown according to my research and i DID the research, RV'd what appeared to be craft in his opinion behind the comet. Who knows, maybe there were spaceships behind that giant rock, i don't know. With that said, i can NOT find any connections that Doc Brown had to the Cult, Heavens Gate. 11PM Tonight! Shwiing!! www.youtube.com/clandestinetimelord |

The "pyramids" were "found" by Hoagland and "RVed" after the fact so I don't know what you are trying to get at there. Hi res pictures showed that the "pyramids were not at all symmetrical "structures" Do you have some links that support your claims as I may very well have missed some data. |

| Old Thymer User ID: 29128755 12/21/2012 08:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Is this the same Dr. Courtney Brown that Art Bell and Whitley Strieber threw under the bus over the Heaven's Gate thing? I always thought that was pretty pathetic they way they tagged team on Dr. Brown over it. Funny how it was the only time in history Art suddenly cared about the accuracy and verifiability of "information" being broadcast on his show, and it was only after the fact. He should have stuck to his guns and just said it wasn't anybody's fault that a bunch of morons cut off their dicks and killed themselves. Those nutters would have done it over some other event if it wasn't the comet coming by anyway. |
| Old Thymer User ID: 29128755 12/21/2012 08:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I see by some other posts that it is indeed the same. He didn't remote view any spaceship. His story at the time was that a credentialed astronomer had given him the pictures and told him there was an unnatural object there as or with the comet. Courtney's testimony was that he was not allowed to say the name of the astronomer or the prestigious institution the astronomer worked at because the information he'd been given was given in confidentiality. When Art Bell and Whitley held that horrible "trial" of Courtney live on the air in the 90's, which I was listening to live at the time, they basically accused Dr. Brown of making it up entirely because he wouldn't name the source astronomer. So as outsiders to the whole thing the listeners are left to wonder if Dr. Brown invented it or was displaying integrity by keeping the promise of confidentiality he'd given to another person. Art and Whitley basically said.. We are going to make you the scape goat, but we will give you the opportunity to make someone else the scape goat. Dr. Brown wouldn't do that. I don't remember anything about Dr. Brown "remove viewing", it was all based on photos alleged to come from an astronomer at a prestigious university. But my brain is not entirely reliable, admittedly. It was one of the most ghastly moments in C2C history and really lowered by respect level of Art & Whitley. |
