It seems, after the fact (after all danger was over, and children etc. were lying dead and motionless), the police finally cowered up to a body with numerous, different, types of guns strewn all around it (an obvious overkill ).

Really now, tell me, how many guns of many different types can one person carry and still shoot. Do they teach that at the gun range:?
