Re: Not a fan of the Abrahamic 'god'..
Jesus is God made flesh and OP you admit you like that side of him. That's the side of God that we see when we obey his commandments. Much of the OT God shows his discipline towards those who sin against him so that they may turn back and change. Yes there's even wrathful destruction for those who have refused to change.

Will you stfu with this bullshit, the grown ups are trying to have a converstion.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 947657

I actually think this person is making a valid point--it seems like once the fall occurred because we free will chose to turn from God (disobey--become more aware) God had to devolve this reality to match our consciousness...

lots of evidence for this in nature... bee stingers used to be reproductive organs... meat eating likely was not what sustained massive lizards we call dines, life spans decreased...
etc

:)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30440264

This may be true, the problem I have is that this devolved reality most likely has to exist, IMO, as a counter-balance to paradise.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 947657

not a bad theory and it may seem this way, but the bible tells us it is consciousness-based...

we chose to know more and step outside of paradise... God reacted to us... much like bees sometimes don't build comb the way you want and you have to cut it back...

and this is a beautiful and profound process, not fear-based and petty...

it can be way better than any other kind of consciousness, and I have tried as many as possible...

Bowman, if you haven't already, I recommend getting a compass and making these shapes yourself and playing w them...

but God does warn us about creating images that we place too much import on... they distract from Him and build ego instead...

still, when you realize that on a molecular level it is all geometry, it becomes quite profound...

:)

Well I believe it's a good representation of the importance of scale. So much emphasis is place on time and space but scale is where the subjective communicates. We are encased within "God". A part of the whole and a self similar representation created in its image. ohyeah

I mean he did all this petty, jealous and vengeful stuff in the old testament.. then to top it off sent his/her/its son to be killed by us.

That is not the type of god i want to pray to. Perhaps the snake in the garden was the good guy, trying to warn us about this sick fuck.

Im conflicted because the story of Jesus' life and his death is gut wrenching, i love that guy.

I think OP is really not a fan of past human consciousness and how God reacted to that, by necessity, to build a harvest of free will sovereign spirit beings...

if we saw someone stoning another for any reason I think we would step in...

one time when I was in China I saw 4-5 Chinese dudes kicking the crap out of some dude and throwing large rocks on him... I lost my sh_t and went ape on them...

(don't recommend that, btw)

Viewing ONESELF (the unawakened part) from a perspective of THE God, which can be found only INSIDE is the goal and everything else will follow.

it certainly helps to understand some things, but i would be careful buying into too many things you cannot verify w the bible on some level...

I used to think we were all in "God" and that everything is fractal--which is what this geometry points to...

but going back to Dr. bruce Lipton's work (he is not a Christian), he talks about pulling the nucleus out of a cell and yet the cell still functions... if you remove a human brain the body will not function on its own...

at some point we have to realize that we may not be able to comprehend everything we want to...

I do find asking God often gives me answers I hadn't considered... so it seems like nothing is really hidden...

just have to know the right question, perhaps...

There's only one God.

Romans 11:22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness,[a] if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.

Bowman, it helps me to consider the ephemeral aspects much like you might a song...

"in the beginning was the word"

God may be singing this creation into existence... we are expressions of this... and somehow we are singing too... or meant to...

song writing is another good angle to this topic, btw...

there are nicer ways to say this... :)

for example, hell appears to be a place based to some extent on how you live your life...

there may be some people who are inherently saintly...

the beauty of Christ is that forgiveness of sins takes out the guesing game of this...

asking for forgiveness, because most of us are not saintly and cannot be perfect, loving God and doing so by loving and respecting each other... caring for God's creation...

that's what i love about bees: they serve everyone around them...

Anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit can never be forgiven. Jesus Christ said this when the high priests were saying He had an evil spirit in Him. Jesus Christ said that it possible for a person to be forgiven if she or he spoke against He, but never if they spoke against the Holy Spirit.

If by that you mean the Creator of Heaven and Earth,

bible as baseline...

Professor Walter Veith sort of taught me this perspective--otherwise I wouldn't have believed it...

but I have found repeatedly it helps to consider the bible in most things... especially Genesis and the New Testament...

we often want to think mechanistically when life and creation is more profound and enigmatic than we can comprehend...

we have to be humble and yet consider how powerful our consciousness is... this is why TPTB manipulate us with it... that and free will... they need us to choose, on some level, to accept the BS...

again spiritual laws...
