Quoting: IwasKidding You realize how batshit crazy that is right? The sun did not rise at 3:30 in Africa. In order for that to happen, (depending on what lat/long we're talking about), everywhere along that same latitude would be within a similar time frame. The Earth is rotating at a constant rate, hence the (slightly over) 24 hour day. In order for these absurd observations to hold true, one would have to assume that the Earth is both speeding up and slowing down simultaneously. The effects this would have on wind, weather paterns, growth cycles, biological patterns (we evolved to depend upon a 24 hour day/night cycle, as did all of the rest of life on Earth). all of these would go haywire, and pretty much "overnight". |

Kissplash User ID: 18998054 United States 12/24/2012 11:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 7:06 was the sunrise time today by the almanac. Sun peeked out at 7:29-7:30 it is still tracking way off course, as it it is coming up way over than normal it does not ever get directly overhead but stays to one side of the sky and then sets way off se-sw. My feeling is the earth is "off" in some way making the sun appear this way. Quoting: IwasKidding What does the Almanac say for a few days from now...say 4 days from now...maybe 7? Does your Almanac coorespond to a later date in the month? If so by how many days. This is the clue you all need to look into...not whether the Earth shifted, but rather time. I would place a money bet that you will find the time and place coordinates are perfect for a about a week ahead. Let me know if I'm right or wrong. LEARN HOW TO BE KIND OR BE LEFT BEHIND. OXOXO |

Menow User ID: 18943200 United States 12/24/2012 08:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So today 12-22 it lightened outside early..as in earlier than it should I would say it was quite light inside house by 6 am, where you can see well enough. (our bedroom is on side of house away from sunrise) I got up at a little before the Almanac said sunrise was to be (7:05) went to look not sun not a bit. Went back to bed for a few minutes although last few days it seems like it is really well past time to be out of bed. By 7:25 I was out looking for sun, snapped a couple pictures where it would come up at...which it did around 7:30 maybe 7:28ish (if clock was off) Okay so it is WAY off, and yet it is WAY too light out before it ever makes an appearance. Quoting: IwasKidding Does your almanac give the sunrise times for your city, not just your state? The exact time of sunrise depends where in Missouri you live. For example, sunrise today was at 7:16am for Saint Louis, Missouri. [link to www.timeanddate.com] If, however, you live on the opposite side of the state, like Kansas City, Missouri, the sun rose at 7:35am. [link to www.timeanddate.com] Good luck getting a response. They just don't want to hear anything suggesting they might be mistaken. I make a good point but I do not trust anything digital right now. Can only go with what is not right. Who suggested any "digital" source? Do you find selective reading convenient? REPEAT: Does your almanac give the sunrise times for your city, not just your state? The exact time of sunrise depends where in Missouri you live. |

It's the angle of sunlight that causes the Seasons. In Summer, the Sun is high in the sky, and in Winter it is low. I just checked LunaSolCal for Kansas City, Missouri - Today, the Sun reached a peak altitude of 27.5 degrees at solar noon. For comparison, in Summer it reaches an altitude of 74.3 degrees. edit: OP, if you are interested in learning more about this, I recommend these two books: Astronomy Today by Eric Chaisson and Steve McMillan Astronomy: Journey to the Cosmic Frontier by John D. Fix Last Edited by BoxerLvr on 12/24/2012 09:07 PM It is precisely because it is fashionable for Americans to know no science, even though they may be well educated otherwise, that they so easily fall prey to nonsense. They thus become part of the armies of the night, the purveyors of nitwittery, the retailers of intellectual junk food, the feeders on mental cardboard, for their ignorance keeps them from distinguishing nectar from sewage. — Isaac Asimov |

How is knowing where the sun is supposed to be and verifying it is there make me a shill? Why is it anytime data and science are mentioned people immediately pull the shill card?
