In 1997, Great Britain made all hand guns illegal. In 2 years, handgun violence went up 40%. In less than a decade, gun violence was up 89%. A 2004 study by the University of Pennsylvania could "not credit the assault weapons ban on curbing gun violence". I guess some believe a gun is self aware and will start shooting people. If you want to see how successful strict gun laws are, look at the statistics for Illinois. Lanza killed his mother to get the guns he was denied to purchase.

There is a serious issue with crime all over the world. There is a serious issue with drug abuse all over the world. Guns are a means to an end. Let me put some color into this Gray Gun debate.

Im gonna give you two examples and you choose one.

1. Whacked out guy goes into a public place with 20 people ( call it a school,store,church,theater etc .. ) in the mind of doing harm with a few firearms and possibly some body armor. Now NONE of the 20 people in there has a firearm or any weapon of any kind of there own ( aside from possibly one guy that has a yellow belt in karate or something ).

I think its gonna be all 20 are going to become a statistic.

2. Same whacked out guy..same everything aside from lets say that 5 of the people have a firearm ( yes registered and all the legal back round checking on them and permits etc ).

I think NOT all of the 20 will become a statistic.

Lets go a wee bit further ..

3. Same set of whacky guy and place and 20 people. But now lets put a firearm in the hands of All persons that are of age and required training. Lets say thats gonna be 60-90% ( depending on the location of course ) .. or 12-18 peeps.

I would suggest that the same Whackjob is not going to attempt such an attempt on that location.

Its like going into a Cop Shop and telling the guy behind the counter "This is a stick-up".

So which one would you choose ?!.. I think that you would Wish that you would have voted for having a gun when there is someone with body armor and a gun about to blow your head off .. but it was not within your legal right to carry a weapon.

The reason why you posted that, is the following:

1) people like to have someone guilty. The one guilty is dead. That does not suffice to the peoples mind.
2) a research is done, and people tend to be very lazy, they stop their research at the "gun".
3) it happens, that people identify the gun as the problem and the guilty.
4) NRA is identified in fast mode with that upper logic as being "behind the gun"
5) peoples mind get crazy: NRA and at large "gun owners" are the guilty in a general sense. Without them, the atrocity of Newtown would not have been possible.
6) If nobody would have a gun, no shooting would happen

So lets see, if that is applicable:
Here in France, lots of people have guns. Yes they do. But there is no one coming up with the idea to kill schoolchildrens.

Lets see, in other countries, people have guns, too ! In south america they are all armed, but why is there no shool shooting ?

With a gun you can do a lot of things. But why, it is like only in america you take it and make shool shootings.

That is the question.

Now you got a dummy question 'should we ban guns or not ?' and the real question is not debated.
