Putting a Police Officer In Every School Would Cost At Least $5.5 Billion a Year

i went to high school in chicago in the 70s,we always had 2 uniformed armed chicago cops in the school all day.many schools do so fuck off.seems to be a lot of cops doing nothing during school hours any way.might as well eat donuts and sit on their ass inside a school instead of driving around wasting the gas we pay for

No, you're taking an officer off a designated patrol area leaving no one to fill that spot. So there IS a cost to have officers at schools.

I think it's a great idea. What better place to have a policeman, than protecting our kids? I don't know how you can argue this one.

Of course, the real intent of this whole thing is not protecting our kids, is it? The whole intent is probably creating, then sensationalizing the crap out of the shooting to push the anti-gun agenda, isn't it?

Clinton also unveiled the $60-million fifth round of funding for "COPS in School," a Justice Department program that helps pay the costs of placing police officers in schools to help make them safer for students and teachers. The money will be used to provide 452 officers in schools in more than 220 communities.

Packing a 19 or 20 year old soldier in with the 17 year old senior girls could be a bad mix.

How about retired cops? They (hopefully) are way past groping teens. And, they can assess and shoot as well as anyone.

Plus, for the retirees who take the posts, they will not receive their retirement, just full-time pay. That should cut down on the 5.5 billion estimated cost.
