There's a couple of reasons why it's so popular. It's a catchy tune with an easy to remember chorus. "Heeeeeeeey, sexy lady, whoo whoo."
Also, the video is comical and has a dance associated with it. Think about some of the other big foreign pop songs to break the charts here. Most of them have an accompanying dance.

If you can have something that can appeal to a wider demographic, then you have success. I have not met one person that hasnt watched it yet. Theres enough people in the world to have risen the viewship of this video.
