If I were to governor or mayor, when a team threatens to leave, I would say, "hate to see you leave, but why should any taxpayer money be used when the NFL generates billions in profit every year?" "Because the way we see it, if taxpayers money was used, would every taxpayer get a free ticket?". I get fed up with pro teams demanding taxpayers money to fund a new park,but was does the taxpayer receive, you guessed it, higher taxes. With all of the money generated by any pro team, why should any public money b e used? One of several things should be done when a pro team wants a new stadium, raise ticket prices, place a surcharge on tickets, surcharge on parking, surcharge on anything sold at the stadium, ask the league to fund the project. Leave the taxpayers alone, they do NOT benefit, not one penny. |
