Since the turn of the millennium everything has gone to shit. Most of this shittiness can be blamed on the internet and technology in general, but a lot of it is also political and social. I would write a book about it but I'm too pissed off.

The baby boomers are reaping what their careless debt based consumerism sowed. World wide we are running out of cheap oil, cheap water, cheap rare Earth metals etc. Additionally we have a very poor administrator running the U.S. and another in Canada, and another in Germany. I don't know about other places. Paralyzed economies, leaders and poorly educated citizens make for an unpleasant present. Sad as it is perhaps the 90s feel like the good old days now.
