are you guys reporting from the middle east, if so get the hell out of there.

IFUN is Greek - so he is very close to the situation (literally)...and where should he go? Not trying to be snarky...it's just that I don't see how people can "get out of there"
 Quoting: DarbyDoom

well at least in Greece he can get on a boat and get out. The biological weapons are going to fly when Obama makes his move on Iran.

Re: Syria latest - Russia says neither side will win Syrian civil war
Very interesting read by Patrick Cockburn who as a journalist is considered an expert on ME affairs.

Syria today resembles Iraq nine years ago in another disturbing respect. I have now been in Damascus for 10 days, and every day I am struck by the fact that the situation in areas of Syria I have visited is wholly different from the picture given to the world both by foreign leaders and by the foreign media. The last time I felt like this was in Baghdad in late 2003, when every Iraqi knew the US-led occupation was proving a disaster just as George W Bush, Tony Blair and much of the foreign media were painting a picture of progress towards stability and democracy under the wise tutelage of Washington and its carefully chosen Iraqi acolytes.

Re: Syria latest - Russia says neither side will win Syrian civil war
NATO backed rebels have won this even if syria is not liberated completely.
still NATO has gained influence at all levels and even prooved it can strike damascus.

it is always the same scheme.
look at korea 60 years ago.
look at germany.
all of these countries were invaded and at a certain point divided.
eastern germany even became capitalistic when the soviet union collapsed and had no more money to keep it running!
what big luck for NATO.
BUT WAS IT REALLY LUCK?

i dont think so.

NATO's strategy never was to liberate these countries in the short term.
the strategy was to gain influence and then BUILD UP on it so they can liberate or "assimilate" in the long term.

neither china nor russia seem to have a solution for this except to threat with massive force as seen in korea.

from a strategic view syria was a great victory for NATO.

Re: Syria latest - Russia says neither side will win Syrian civil war
the reason why NATO always wins is that NATO nations are capitlistic.
you can make certain individuals very rich, very quick if they comply.
since humans ALWAYS first look for themselfes.....A VERY BIG ADVANTAGE over any other economic paradigm.

NATO will always win as long as humans are selfish and greedy.

im pretty sure this world will stay like it is for a LOOOOOOONG time because of the fact that HUMANS DONT CHANGE SO EASILY and if they dont see any advantages for themselfes THEY DONT CHANGE AT ALL!

Thnx for the interesting view. I don't think that NATO/rebels already won this though, this remains to be seen imo when the Greater ME project will be completed, we are in the middle of it now.

Re: Syria latest - Russia says neither side will win Syrian civil war
Syria has been a major buyer of Russian arms and hosts a modest naval maintenance facility on the Mediterranean that is Russia's only military base outside the former Soviet Union.

President Vladimir Putin has said Russian vetoes and opposition to U.N. sanctions against Syria are driven by the principle of non-interference in sovereign states. He has accused Washington of using human rights concerns to justify efforts to impose its will around the world.

Putin has emphasised that Moscow will not allow a repeat in Syria of last year's events in Libya, where NATO intervention, authorised by the U.N. Security Council after Russia abstained from a vote, helped rebels topple Muammar Gaddafi.

A CAMERAMAN for Syrian state television has been gunned down outside his home in Damascus, the broadcaster says, blaming the attack on "terrorists"

Even before his death, at least 17 paid journalists and 44 citizen journalists had been killed in violence in Syria since the uprising.

Except the bankers and the ones selling war shit. When a weak defense can stop a strong offense in it's tracks, literally, it's time to spend the money on other shit, despite what the bankers say.

So true SJ, war totally sucks and these children will be scarred for life after this. Wish we simple minions could do more about it, but so many people have no idea what the bankers are doing in some countries. :(

You raising a great point here MHZ, i'm starting to feel with this Syrian crisis, that it's a war that it's not supposed to be won by someone or it's duration is prolonged on purpose to serve certain interests and produce some extra cash in these bad times for the economy. Political solution is there imo but no side is interested in it.
