OP, I look at the singular figure of Jesus Christ and am always awe struck by Him. I love the way that He showed that the OT pointed to Him. Yet, He undermined and eviscerated the bizarre aspects of the OT, e.g. stoning woman accused of adultery, easy divorce, bizarre dietary laws, cleansing rituals, etc.

It is because of Jesus that I am not a fundamentalist. God used the Hebrews to prepare the way for His Son. God breathed inspiration into OT prophets. But, much of the OT reflects the corruption and evil of the Hebrews who wrote it. Therefore, I am not stuck with the fundamentalist doctrine of "verbal plenary inspiration".

Yes, Jesus opened the door for all people, regardless of race and religious heritage, to become a child of God if they so chose.
