Obuma has asked for 2 trillion up front deficit cash and spending cut negiotiations later.

To be honest, I do not think Obama has any interest in agreeing to any deal. Even if all of the Republicans agreed with every one of Obama's DEMANDS, Obama would still find a reason to refuse it. he has shown that he has no interest in doing anything that would actually help this country.

The biggest sticky point for him, and one he DEMANDS is for him and him alone to have the right and power to increase the debt ceiling to anything he wants it to be. Yeah, like that is going to work. He wants to spend and spend your childrens, grand-childrens, and now great-grand-childrens future, with NO plans to buy it back.

I predict the tea party will get blamed for the cliff, then come election time, the dems will get control of everything

The Tea Party is always blamed for anything that goes on in Washington that doesn't go Lord God Almighty Obama's way. If people actually looked at the truth instead of waiting for someone to tell them what to think, they would soon realize that Obama is a disease intent on currupting the American economy any way he can.

The thing I find so hateful is how the MSM is saying that Congress ran out of town before doing their job, but ignoring the fact that Obama was already gone on his way to another glorious tax payer paid vacation in the lying state of Hawaii.

Of course he wants the spending increases now, with the promise of cuts later. This is not some new trick. The Democrats have pulled that one on Reagan when they promised cuts for a tax increase and the cuts never came. They did it again on George H.W. Bush when he broke his "no new taxes" pledge. And even Clinton ran on cutting taxes, but once in office came to the microphone and proclaimed "I have never worked as hard as I have in these past few weeks, but I just cant find any areas to reduce taxes". These snake oil salesmen are filled with nothing but lies.

Politically both sides wanted this and the teapartiers will be washed out. You really thought they'd come up with a deal?

Such a wonderful system we have; politicians raise their salaries all while raising taxes on the rest of us; their tax exempt overseas bank accounts getting fatter as they feed at the trough; exploiting our labor untill their snouts drip with filth...

Whole thing is dumb, we've all seen it before. They will get an extension bill passed to push out the final 11th hour deal. This just a ploy to keep the sheep out of the markets while they rally and rally they will in January.

The downgrade to junk and then garbage will be so well earned.

I am perplexed by those that still hold the opinions that this is just another case of 'democrats v/s republicans'

I'm pretty sure its a non-event other than a sell off in the markets next week for some to avoid the capital gains taxes. The real issue is the next debt ceiling fiasco that happens in March.

I guess that is why Harry Reid wouldn't bring any bill up for a vote in the Senate, he did not have enough "yes" votes. Just like the last time the Senate voted for the potus spending bill and it was defeated 99-0. Our leader is a brain dead POS.

This is all by design. The goal is to tie our hands and keep the US from influencing world politics. The administration does not think we should have the influence we do and the best way to stop the US is to put us in debt bondage.

Our engine of prosperity is consumerism, but we don’t produce what we consume anymore, other nations do. The only way to get out of this debt issue is to produce new sources of growth. But taxes only slow the velocity of money and consumer confidence is staggeringly low on top of it.

Taxes do not raise government revenue but rather are used to control growth of the economy so it does not out pace itself. If you let an economy all of a sudden have a 25% growth in one year the next few years will stagnate and the growth will collapse in on itself. So you raise taxes when we are growing to fast, well we are not growing too fast; instead our debt is growing too fast.

What we have is an attempt to put us all in long term debt bondage we cannot get out of quickly. We are spurring our current growth by mortgaging our economic future!

The only way to get out of this to lower taxes and increase the velocity of money, more money in circulation today then has ever been in circulation before but money is changing hands slower than it ever has before. The government makes its money and the value of our currency goes up when we exchange money. If no one is using the dollar it is worthless.

Another thing, our growth is directly related to the cost of energy, no cheap energy no growth. Make no mistake there will be no new “clean” energy jobs, they are just a fleecing unit. If clean energy was feasible you and I would invest in it in a heartbeat.

I hope you all realize this is all about the obamacare funding. The fiscal cliff as politics calls it so misleadingly, can go right over. We as regular citizens will not notice a thing except a bunch of politicians start drumming to the people to donate to their frivolous help programs. no more aid shipped overseas, no more money to fund the stuff making Pelosi millions outside of her congressional paycheck. This could be a good thing
