My state is on the list, but there really aren't that many. Most of them are probably shootings by cops. Unless I'm heading into the ghetto areas, I wouldn't worry about it.

Old Statistics: AZ's are from 2002, before the new concealed carry laws were enacted.
Illegals like to settle matters with a gun, increasing the statistics.
Since 2010 we are a concealed gun carry, without a permit required, state.
Overall, crime is down as are gun deaths.

Re: Firearm DEATH RATE BY STATE...
Om god look at all those deaths! Lets ban guns! Wait how many people die each year from prescription drugs?

Of the 783,936 annual deaths due to conventional medical mistakes, about 106,000 are from prescription drugs, according to Death by Medicine. That also is a conservative number. Some experts estimate it should be more like 200,000 because of underreported cases of adverse drug reactions

What? No national out cry to ban poorly tested dangerous pharmaceuticals?

Thats odd. Oh i forgot the tv stations make big money off of advertising those drugs. Wouldn't want to lose that money by saying something negative about them even though they are killing people.

2002? Figures. I could not find anything in current reports that even looks like this.

The Alaska totals, btw, are very low (e.g. 16), but so is the population, hence the numbers.

Most telling in the tally, however, is the D.C. statistic. Compare that to communities with MANDATORY gun laws, and you got yourself a fact: gun crimes are conducted by cowards. They prefer a massive advantage. Old ladies and gun-free zones are first choice.

Re: Firearm DEATH RATE BY STATE...
Why would you use states as your unit of measure? For the most part states take a back seat in gun laws. Besides deciding concealed carry laws the states generally take a hands off approach. Cities are the ones doing gun bans almost exclusively. States can be so diverse that any statistical data will be useless. For instance, it is difficult to judge New York state without NY city dominating the numbers and casting the entire state in a different light.

What do we find on a city by city basis? We find cities with the highest proportions of blacks and the strictest gun control laws have by far the ugliest numbers. These numbers drag down stats for their entire states.

If we go by statistics we could just deny guns to blacks and reduce gun crimes by 75% while only denying gun rights to 14% of the population. Or do we deny rights to the other 86% of the population who commit only 25% of the gun crimes?

I figured my state of Colorado would have gained more notice as we've have not one, but two mass shootings (Columbine HS 1999 and Aurora theater/Batman movie 2012)+ a mtn town's school hostage situation where a great young gal named Emily Keyes was killed.
Instead Colorado is about in the middle of stats at #30, so I can only imagine the carnage in the 29 states above us.

Did you exclude suicides? No. Gun-related homicides is the correct measure, not gun-related deaths. This reminds me somewhat of the international rankings for students in math and science, where the media likes to report the US is low in the rankings. When you filter out the blacks and hispanics, the US ranks at the top. Fact. Throwing out numbers and lists is meaningless unless you know exactly what is being counted and ranked.

I've heard this thought many times, but I have a question for you: Why?

The government already governs. You do roughly what they want and care for yourself, your families and so on. What do you think "owning" you and the rest of us is going to do for them?

Free sex with your daughter? they already have that if they want it. Your kid would vanish and no one would know where she is, if that was their plan.

To make you serve them without pay? Money is, by and large, fiction that they already own.

No, it makes no real sense to do that at all, because right now, with the idea that you're free, they have the perfect control mechanism.

There is no reason at all to mess with what they already have, is there?
