well you prefer to ignore the fact that there is no agreement among historians or law makers on what exactly it means by this famous phrase.
It is usual with old texts to chose the interpretation that matches our own views.
But the fact is, this was one of the great moments in history. (too bad we dont have leaders like these any more)
