Of course the Tzolkin didn't have leap years. It had nothing to do with the solar calendar, it just was the 260 day cycle that named the days. The solar calendar is ha'ab. It didn't have leap years, but each year was 365.25 days, so after four years the extra day is accounted for but not counted as a day. This is why the correlation that says the end date is now is wrong.
By ignoring the ha'ab component the ha'ab date which is represented by the 3 Kankin glyph does not line up where it should. The solar calendar date 3 Kankin should happen in April, not December. All of these convoluted formulas that bring the end date to 2012 have overlooked the easiest clue of all for finding the correlation because they have ignored that the ha'ab portion of the date tells us the time of year. Any civilization that depends on agriculture needs to have an accurate solar calendar. If you count the days correctly instead of trying to convert them through mathematical formulas to make it obey our number system it loses simplicity. If I were to tell you that summer vacation will be in October this year, it would be obvious that I was either lying, stupid or delusional because we all know summer can't happen in October. Likewise, the ha'ab date 4 ahau (Tzolkin date) 3 kankin can only happen in the month of April. Once you understand this, it is easy to calculate the true end date based on historic knowledge, such as the arrival of Cortes.
