I would have thought that a nuclear explosion on the moon would have been noticed. I mean, there would have been huge chunks of moon rock ploughing into the Earth.
That is providing a nuclear weapon of the day is powerful enough to destroy the moon.
Some of those craters on the moon are 5oo miles across, and they didnt destroy the moon, so an impact of a nuclear device may not be guaranteed to destroy the moon.
